DF Spoilers / Re: Battle Ground foreshadowing
« on: Yesterday at 07:04:19 PM »
A lot of beings are said to have nine lives, some people believe the white god is one such being which has been part of ehe series for a long time.

At least Molly believes she is immortal. In battle ground she told Harry she could go through a wood chipper and she would get better.

It was not the breaking down of reality, it was being hit by the eye itself. If she had waited by Odin, the Earl King and Titania's bodies, put them in a pile and blasted them when it was ready then they would have been dead. Or if she had managed to  hit Mab a second time

I think Listen is the sort of ice cream who brings his own freezer along, he seems very survival oriented so I can't imagine we have seen the last of him.

I think King Corb is salty bacon ice cream, the person making it thinks it is a great idea, but it is definitely bad taste.

DF Spoilers / Re: Who is Thomas talking to?

On whether it was a good idea to let Harry communicate with the British prisoner. I guess 7t was a chance. If Harry can get Thomas out quickly it probably won't matter much. If Harry had died an Thomas was stuck there for 50+ years, maybe talking with a possible villain a couple of times a year is better than nothing.

It could also be that it is the wrestling book in the same way that ghost story was the detective being locked up with the prisoners-book.

It could be an arena in the nevernever where gods fight, everyone is immortal, but something else is on the line. Or maybe there is an event every 1000 years and the winner gets x, or maybe it is supposed to be safe but now one god killed another and Dresden has to figure out what happened.

Or bring the army. I think it was a point made several times in battle ground that large groups of armed people are dangerous. The army being the clearest example, but also the volunteers and the gang neighborhoods.

During the attack Harry Dresden showed his true colours as a warlock in a display so much the essence of a fire inclined warlock (throwing a fireball on a group of mortals standing in the open) that it is highly likely to be his planned defiance of the council as it falls at exactly the same time as he has fully established his power base and unveiled the power of the island.

At least that is the most paranoid interpretation of it I can think up :-)

There should also be something on the ice wall that for a short time stopped the entire group of Jotuns and about surviving Drakul.

I am not sure the council would recognize that he mad Odin are loose allies from the events.

I would also guess that they are not surprised about that Molly has an army, she is the winter lady after all. But perhaps at her and Mabs personal power

I think this is the most likely. Given that Lea says betrayal is in the nature of the Foot and the world just have to be shown (in that short story with Molly) Man must have expected treachery from the fomor. Even if she was not sure of they had an immortal backing them doing it in Chicago ensured Harry, Marcone and Lara would be ready to fight at their best. And I think they are all three opponents that the fomor would underestimate because they are the most mortal.

Perhaps Mab could also see Marcone rising in power and would like to see what he pulled out of his hat when he was really pushed.

I can definitely see nemesis pulling string to ensure that Ethniu got the titanic bronze and/or the eye. I think she needed both to be a threat to all of the accorded nations working together.

I am thinking that the outer gates are keeping something bad out and Demonreach is keeping something in, and as a result they would not be close.

Regarding telling or not. In most cases I think the most natural answer would be: well I have a girlfriend, so if it not with her I am in trouble. But I also live in Denmark and I get the impression that there is a pretty big difference between Denmark and the US in this regard. But here I think Carlos could have handled it a lot better and if he had it would not have resulted in that sort of reaction from Harry.

Just to elaborate on my post above. It would probably not have been very Harry to be diplomatic and calm, I just answered it in the spirit of what do I think the optimal course of action would have been.

Carlos started with the tracking device, but maybe they are equal when Harry uses his trust to make him a distraction and a fool in front of the accorded nations. I can't count the number of times Harry has mentioned never to look weak in front of predators and a guy who already uses a cane being pulled around like an idiot by his jacket looks pretty weak.

Not that I am fan of how Carlos is acting, but I think the winter knight settled the scales on that one.

I think he could have told Carlos on the stairs in the castle the he worked with Lara because of winter stuff and that he was sorry he could not tell him more about it.
Maybe he could also have told him at that point that he has a great girlfriend which he would like to introduce his friend Carlos to at some point, but that it is none of Warden Ramirez business.

So I think he should not have told Carlos much more than he did, but he could have done it ok a nicer way. But then again Harry is a bit less calm than I am and he is living it, not reading it.

That is a super convenient way to get about it, and it still allows for super cool in flight, maybe in water? Fight scenes. Perhaps also a bit of contemplation. I think it will be both, a quick route through the ways and shapeshift.

Harry was not wasting time going ro the island. He had to pick up the spear. Without it he could not have bound the titan and it was only with the spear the range was to the Lakeshore. To me it seems like often when people here think Harry is stupid it is because key parts of the story is ignored. At Least in this thread it has been two out of two times.

I think Fix said that Maeve, Lily and the others flew there.

The advantage of having the path being castle, labs dungeon, island is that anyone taking that path would have to be a bit insane.

Yes, the island is a bad place, but Mabs dungeon :-O

Hey Nic, let's have this talk out on my magic island. No worries there is a quick path there through the nevernever. I am definitely not going to leave you in Mabs dungeon.

I also think the direct door is plausible btw.

Mouse could carry her skull ok a small container shaped like a barrel. I'm not sure it would allow more interaction, but it would be cute :-)
