DF Spoilers / Re: White Council Top Members
« on: Yesterday at 05:59:59 PM »
If he was in top 30-40 before in terms of raw power I would think that just becoming winter knight and the associated training would put him in  in the top or at the top, perhaps depending on the time of year (battleground was the winter knight mantle at its weakest.

I think saying he is in top 30-40 in his age group would make the statement almost meaningless. Harry must have been at the top of his age group back then. He is obviously not the most skilled wizard, so to be able to do more than other wizards, especially those of his own age, he must have more power to draw on.

DF Spoilers / Re: I can see why some of the gods would be in pro wrestling

Ok, but if, when they make that battlefield where the stone table is on, the more one side wins, the more that side becomes like the loser, then the battle seems pointless. Lets say that summer won a really big victory, would they then be halfway winter?

Maybe the stone table is a bit like thoroughly preparing your food before you eat it. It still matters what you eat, but a lot less than if you eat it raw.

Would winter have become more like summer if the summer knight was sacrificed on the stone table?

I am also thinking that 12 months compared to a normal book should be easier and faster to write. If a normal book is 80% stand alone and 20% based on the previous books, and those 20% are to some degree complicating mainly complicating things, not making them easier. Then 12 months 7s just the opposite.

He used to write two books a year, one Dresden and one something else. I am an optimistic guy so I am just hoping he is coming back to that :-)

It could also be that it is a pro wrestling book in the same way that the ghost story was a prison book.

DF Spoilers / Re: So When Maeve Died, What Happened to.....

I wonder what happens if both lady and queen dies. It seems odd that it would be worse for someone random to become queen that Molly.

DF Spoilers / Re: Beowulf-Venatores
« on: August 14, 2021, 08:52:23 AM »
It could also just be because the more people know about you the more they can prepare for your actions. If you know he is Vadderung, head of a cooperation then you have almost nothing to prepare you. If you know he is Odin you know he problably got a spear and is good with magic and planning. So you figure that cathing him unarmed and alone with a big monster is a sure bet. But then it turns out he is also Beowulf who won a naked wrestling competition against a large monster by ripping off it's limbs. If you had know you would probably not have entered into that wrestling competition.

Another example is that if you know he is also Zeus (my guess) then you would also prepare for lightning. If you know he is also Santa you would not attack him close to Christmas.

But of course there could be more to it.

DF Spoilers / Re: What will Eb do?

I still think the simplest explanation is that pappa wraith on a full tank is extremely tough. Yes a large caliber bullet to the head would (perhaps) kill the other WC vampires, but I think they are also in a totally different weight class than him. If Lara is from around 1700 and he is from around year 0 then he is six times older. Maybe Eb did drop a satelite on him, but it did not kill him. Or maybe he tried to drop a satelite on him but his super hearing picked it up and he was so fast that he could run away in time? If he could rip the life force from someone with a kiss maybe Goodman Grey would not have fared so well. Maybe when he was with a full tank he did not have to settle for mortal dominated henchmen, he could have had his own dominated pet shapeshifter (or something else)

The simplest explanation as to why someone lives for 2000 years with a lot of enemies is that they are very hard to kill. I cannot imagine that Eb is the first one he pissed off.

DF Spoilers / Re: Damn, Maeve really did win
« on: August 02, 2021, 11:17:59 AM »
I disagree

Whither would my mantle go? Where is the nearest
vessel now? Some hapless mortal, perhaps,
ignorant of its true nature? The instrument of
some foe of yours, in alliance with me, ready to
steal away the mantle and leave you vulnerable?
Maeve giggled. I can play chess too, Mother.
Better now than ever you could. And I am now less
a liability to you alive than dead.

Molly is not some clueless mortal, she was a pretty good candidate and Maeve was more of a liability to Mab alive than dead, which is why Mab killed her (via Murph).

I do not think the outsiders trusted Maeve enough to tell her that Justine was infected.

Cinder Spires Books / Re: Cinder Spire - Kid friendly?
« on: July 17, 2021, 10:26:00 PM »
In case others are reading. there is some magical torture i would not consider kid friendly and good guy civilians dying onscreen.

I guess it depends on the age and kid but I would not call it kid friendly.

DF Spoilers / Re: how Harry could beat Carlos, Eb, and others
« on: June 25, 2021, 10:35:51 PM »
It would be one member of the accords attacking another. I don't see how the mortal world becomes part of it.
If Marcone decided to attack winter i can't see summer siding with him either.

So we have the lightning/Gungnir  that points from Odin to Zeus. I think it means more because it is something he pulled out when he was under pressure.
There is also the company logo which was made up of Greek letters, but I cannot remember which. The one that Dresden concluded meant every last detail (among other things).

Is there anything else that neither fits Odin nor Kringle?

That his way is made from green lightning? Or am I mixing things?
