DF Spoilers / Harry Listening
« on: February 13, 2022, 11:15:37 PM »
So Harry has this ability to listen better than a normal person, he thinks it might be magic but is not sure.

Have there been some good theories on what it is?

I am not sure how often he mentions it. I am sure he does it in Dead Beat. But it feels like he has done it less in the newer books.

DF Spoilers / What is your favorite part and why?
« on: June 07, 2021, 10:36:03 PM »
So some time after I started reading these forums I realized that some (many?) People read parts of books that they like. I have always just read the entire book, and usually the entire series from one end to the other every time I re-read.

So especially for those of you who sometimes only rereads a part of the book(s) what are your favorite scenes/sections etc. And why?

Please indicate book and chapter (if possible) so it is easy for the rest of us to find and share your joy :-)

DF Spoilers / Is Harry downplaying Mabs protection?
« on: January 26, 2021, 08:27:56 AM »
This was sparked by comments that Harry was vulnerable because he is no longer part of the white council.

I think Harry is underestimating what Mab would do if someone killed him. Of course her settling the score with them won't help him, but it won't play out nice for the killers either.

She has to balance the scales, so even if e.g. Marcone would trick Harry into breaking the accords and make Mab kill him, I think Mab would do something similar to Marcone, e.g. she could have forced him to kill Hendricks and loose power in some way.

What do you think? Do you agree with Harry's assessment that of her knight can't protect himself she won't care?

DF Spoilers / The Winter knight mantle at is weakest when (BG spoilers)
« on: November 05, 2020, 01:32:59 PM »
Hugin and Mugin (Odins racens) state it directly

"“Easy there, ladies,” I said. “Or we’ll find out how well you operate at absolute zero.” Two heads tilted sharply. “The Winter Knight,” M said. “At the weakest portion of the seasonal cycle,” H noted. “Fifty percent chance he neutralizes one of us before termination.” “Conflict with the seidrmadr results in approximately a twenty-five percent reduction in the principal’s personal defenses.” “Unacceptable,” said M. “Unacceptable,” agreed H."

So mainly I just wanted to say wauw. Also Harry's comments about him being a very strong human, but stil normal human strength total denial from his side because he don't want to be in the monster category.

So maybe the wrestling book will be at mid winter? I am still waiting for a fight with winter claws and armor :-)

Also, so h&m are half Odins personal defences. Maybe that is a hint we will soon see his wolves Gere and Freke? Where are Gere and Freke now? Watching Odin's extra body at home or something?

DF Spoilers / Who really killed ... BG spoilers!!!!
« on: October 10, 2020, 11:34:22 PM »
I think the TWG is directly responsible for Murphy demise, I don't know why. Perhaps because she was not going to be happy ever again with so many injuries, perhaps because He needs that Harry losses her. I don't know. But Murphy did a wonderful thing, deserving a reward and perhaps Rest is the reward.

Why do I say that he is responsible, because too many "random" things led to Murphy's death. Bradley couldn't move with his daughter and Rudolph at the same time, so Harry and Murhpy asked him to leave Rudolph. The gun dropped to the floor and no one had the time to take it. Then Rudolph completely freak out. And Harry suddenly (not before that) discovered that he couldn't raise his arm for a Forzare. I just think there are too many "coincidences" and I only can see the TWG as having that control over reality.

Dina suggested in another thread that perhaps TWG is responsible for Murphs death. I think it is far more likely to be one of his opposites.

Can you think of anything that is not very elaborate or involves killing children that would be better at making Harry fall than exactly what happened here? It took two whole knights of the cross to counter it.

So I guess there is
Marcone/thorned nashiel
Nic
Lucifer or some demon

Because has the most to win (that I can figure out) and is the only one present in the book I am leaning toward Marcone. If Dresden had killed Rudolf the chances that he could/would team up with Marcone at some point are pretty good I think.

Also, it would be fitting if Marcone was the real killer of Murph.

If it had worked Marcone might end up with an ally and have avoided the eventual conflict with Dresden. Now that it did not, he is just still looking forward to that eventual conflict, even if Dresden finding outwould of course accelerate it.

What do you think?

DF Spoilers / Harry following in his mothers footsteps (BG Spoilers)
« on: October 05, 2020, 09:24:23 PM »
I think it is interesting that Margeret tried to reform the council and the way wizards were allowed to work and now Harry has taken it one step further by just outright being a wizard independent of the council who is not going to follow their rules.

Do you think Elaine is going to join him? Any other wizards?

Do you think he will write a new "laws of magic"?

DF Spoilers / Number of participants at the peace talks (spoilers)
« on: August 04, 2020, 10:22:31 PM »
So some people has wondered; why were there not more members of the accords present at the peace talks? My guess is because they knew it would not end in peace. The Fomor are widely know for their betrayals (according to bombshells) and the last time they wanted to have peace talks in bombshells
(click to show/hide)

Any supernatural nation with just a tiny bit of caution in them would stay away. Unless they were forced by being a semi democracy of pansies (the white council), sticklers for following the rules (swartalves), figures it was the event of the century and had to be watched (Ivy) or some other very compelling reason.

At least I think there is a very good reason to stay away.

DF Spoilers / So Bob knows the password to the well
« on: May 14, 2020, 12:55:04 PM »
So Bob, whose loyalty is based on who is in possession of the skull knows the password to the prison on Demonreach. Does that not seem like it is just asking for trouble? Or is there something I am missing?

DF Spoilers / What do you look forward to in Peace Talks?
« on: May 01, 2020, 07:30:10 AM »
I realise that there is just soo many things to look forward to. I will just list two :-)

-To see the effect of Harry not being limited by money in terms of building cool magical stuff. It has always held him back to some degree before, but now he has a bag of diamonds.
- I wonder if he is going to use earth magic more, it was stated in changes that it is a more physically demanding discipline than the others and since he is now at the very least one of the physically strongest mortal wizards in the world, that could be something.

What do you look forward to?

DF Spoilers / How many humans has Harry killed with magic? 4+?
« on: March 06, 2019, 10:26:20 PM »
So there is
1  - Justin
?? - Drugged young people at the party in Biancas house when it burns in Grave Peril
2? - Raiths bodyguards when they drive into Harry's lance of force in Blood Rites
1? - The wolfhound that is part of the hunt which Harry hits with force magic so it/he hits the ground at breakneck speed in Cold Days

It seems odd that he never considers the bodyguards and the teenager disguised as a wolfhound as violations of the law. I know we do not see them die for certain, but it seems very likely.

Can you think of more he has killed? Why do you think those last three do not bother him?
