DF Spoilers / Nemesxorcism (and keeping him out!) [BG Spoilers]
« on: October 09, 2020, 04:13:48 PM »
Outside of Thomas taking up Amoracchius and using it to somehow remove Nemesis from Justine, what other method might be available?

I was thinking about a piece of the Wall to be used as a foci/ritual object. Presumably it's an anathema to them, or they'd storm the Wall rather than the Gate.  Maybe it could help get Nemesis out?  And possibly help keep him out after-the-fact?  Would shaving off a little bit of the inner Wall be worth making charms for Harry's closest allies to keep them free from Nemfection?

DF Spoilers / Nemesis Scope Survey [BG Spoilers]
« on: October 09, 2020, 03:33:23 PM »
I'll update this poll as new possibilities are presented.
  • No 'other here', just reply with options and I'll add.
  • For count-based limitations, I'm going with basic (1), thematic (3), or known limitations to outsiders (13, like the cornerhounds). If a case can be made for another number, I'll add it.
  • Possession options are for full possession, like we've seen with Cat Sith and Justine.
  • Influence options are for whispered influence, like what may have happened with Sells, Denton, and others, possibly without violating mortal free will and not controlling them directly.
  • Spying options are for theoretical sensory input from corrupted targets, where there's no influence exerted but intel is gathered from unknowing victims.

DF Spoilers / Murphy's Gun [Battle Ground Spoilers]
« on: October 06, 2020, 07:34:39 PM »
It probably doesn't matter, but did Harry ever use Murphy's gun?  He made a point to grab her Sig and the extra magazines, but then I don't recall him ever using it.  Even at the end when Marcone asks if he has a gun, Harry doesn't say he does (or doesn't).  Did he use it or lose it somewhere along the way?

In Ghost Story, Listen works for Cantrev Omogh of the Fomor. The Cantrev is in charge of the Chicago region for them.  Listen seems willing to sacrifice himself for Omogh, and is very subservient to the cause.

In Battle Ground, Listen is a Captain in Corb's army who admits to scouting the region for years.  He's all but talking shit to Corb, Omogh's superior, and is chummy with Ethniu.

So what do we think about Listen?  Who's he really working for?  Is Omogh real?  Is he now in trouble with Corb now that Ethniu lost?

DF Spoilers / Airsoft Vigilante [Battle Ground Spoilers]
« on: October 03, 2020, 06:55:05 PM »
Harry's comments at the end of BG suggest we may see civilian vigilantes taking to the streets. That got me thinking about makeshift weapons against supernatural creatures again, and an update to Harry's paintball gun.

Specifically, the Airsoft Vigilante.
  • Airsoft weapons are legal in Illinois but illegal in Chicago, so 'don't get caught' would still be a goal.
  • Guns themselves are available in many places, including online.
  • Custom ammo could theoretically be made to be lethal to monsters but not humans; in some cases, enough to shred them like paper.
    • Iron balls - Sidhe/Faeries
    • Garlic balls (holy water plus garlic powder/salt plus pressure to make dense) - Black Court
    • Inherited silver balls - Loup garou and maybe others?
    • Ghost dust balls - Ghosts

What other ammo could be made to target specific threats?  And what other weapons could be made by the general public?

DF Spoilers / Martha [Battle Ground Spoilers]
« on: October 01, 2020, 10:42:55 PM »
Sorry if this has come up in other threads but I haven't seen it.  What happened to Martha?  Did she stay at the rooftop the entire battle, coordinating things even during the final confrontation?  I've done a search text and there's no reference to her beyond the mention of her talking to beings in a circle at the very beginning.

DF Spoilers / Is Harry OP? [Battle Ground Spoilers]
« on: October 01, 2020, 07:31:58 PM »
As of now, Harry has, in his possession or access to, the following:
  • A prison of gods, demigods, demons, monsters, and other assorted things, which he can (apparently) release and control, in part or in whole, at his whim.
  • Access to a dark lay line source that he could potentially tap with preparation for a spell or spells, similar to how the Denarians used it.
  • The Sword of Love.
  • The Spear of Destiny.
  • The Placard of Christ.
  • The Shroud of Turin.
  • The Crown of Thorns.
  • The Eye of Balor.
  • Castle Wyvern Dresden.
  • The Winter Knight mantle.
  • Third+ Generation Wizard bloodline.
  • Soulfire
  • Starborn power
  • Margaret's Knowledge of Ways.
  • Bob 'Marty Stu' the Skull.
  • Bonea's Angelic Knowledge (if not wisdom)
  • A defacto army of tens of thousands of Little Folk.

He's related to, best friends with, or engaged/married to
  • The Blackstaff.
  • The Sword of Hope bearer.
  • The Sword of Faith bearer.
  • The Winter Lady.
  • The Winter Queen.
  • The (secret) White Queen.

Am I forgetting anything?

Seriously, he's got a ton of crap.  That's not even counting his friendly acquaintances (Uriel, Vadderung, Erlking), his middling power-level friends (Thomas, a pack of Werewolves, River), and his potential resource of professional hires (Goodman, Binder, Kincaid).

I feel like at this point, if Harry were to start wearing the Shroud as a cape (to help heal him on the go), he might be unstoppable.  And if he were to get the Blackstaff like many speculate, then what could possibly stop him?  Other than an iron-rich waterfall?

DF Spoilers / Mac [Battle Ground Spoilers]
« on: October 01, 2020, 03:04:49 AM »
The Grigori/Gabriel theories survive.  Were there any other specific Angel/Fallen names or identities in the running?

(I'm sticking with him being a transubstantiated Gabriel who's Grace is empowering Demonreach and Alfred is the vessel, but I'm open to hearing other updated theories)

Site Suggestions & Support / Theme Changes
« on: August 08, 2020, 08:00:21 PM »
There will be some board theme changes while I try to fix the online status feature.  It's not so simple as a missing image file, but is actually due to code in the SMF version we're on.  There are work-arounds, but they require the theme to be removed and re-added while modifications are made.  I'll have the old theme back soon, hopefully with the status fixed.

DF Spoilers / Knight Ceremony [Cold Case Spoilers]
« on: October 25, 2017, 03:37:21 PM »
Have we discussed Harry's knighting ceremony in light of the Cold Case revelations about the Winter Lady's restrictions?

If Maeve handled Slate's initiation along with his selection, does that mean that there was no technical purpose to Mab's method of initiation with Harry?

Or do we think that Maeve picked Slate, and Mab handled the initiation?

DF Spoilers / Why Simon?
« on: September 08, 2017, 07:33:40 PM »
For those that think Simon is Cowl... Why did he fake his death?  What purpose did that serve?  What did he gain, other than the deaths of the brute squad, which likely could have been arranged without taking himself "out" in the process?

Reasons provided so far, here or previously:
  • Freedom to work without any possibility of suspicion of himself, thus preventing any allies or opponents with intimate knowledge of his methods and history from ferreting him out.
  • Elimination of the Brute Squad, one of the Council's most valuable wartime resources, in the early days of the war.
  • Avoidance of anyone familiar with his magical aura from detecting changes in it due to more extensive use of dark magic.
  • Ability to provide the Ramps with Council intelligence and modus operandi without the Council knowing such information was compromised.
  • Ability to dedicate almost all of his time to his goals, rather than splitting time between them and having to work publicly in the Council's interests.
  • Ability to move freely, without the need for Council bodyguards that would be mandatory during wartime.
  • ...

Reasons not to fake his death, and counterpoints:
  • Remaining on the Council would allow him to influence the war effort. He wouldn't be able to influence it any better than Peabody could.
  • ...
