Bravo!

I was beginning to wonder how many opponents they were going to end up with during the "get your bearings" phase of the encounter.  I'm curious about the stress boxes, did you have something else open to cut and paste from to save time?  Rolling the dice was handled IRL or on a site and then cut/paste into the thread?

DFRPG / Re: [GB] Stat Out a Proton Pack
« on: May 12, 2010, 12:54:15 AM »
They are effectively Enchanted Items that put blocks on Athletics (or possibly on taking actions at all) to move.  Since location within a zone is mostly moot, the dragging function of the proton packs doesn't need to be statted.

An item that allows manipulation of the Spirit element (as long as you don't cross the streams that is) including blocks, etc.  As far as uses per scene you'd have to decide on a nice number depending on how much of a role you want the device to play (more for a central role or multiple ghosts per scene).

Have you considered putting a section in for Rotes or would it be easier to use the "stunts" section for that?

DFRPG / Re: Opinion. Did I handle walking on air right?

I think we'd all agree that it was a much cooler and fit the character better than trying to shimmy up a drain pipe.  Moderate effort for the mechanical aspect of hitting the steps (since you can't see them) but if he's modeled after movie martial artists then this wouldn't be his first rodeo with something like that (I'd consider creating a rote for it down the road).

I think JustinS makes a good point in the distance increasing the difficulty of the effect (building to building across a street = more difficult than building to building across an alley for instance).

Very nicely implemented!  I hope to punch one up with this tomorrow and see how well the exporting to html works (my brain is too tired right now, even for cut and paste).

Expatriot of the White Council seems to be the better choice IMO.  The concept lends itself to friction with the standing power structures of the world (the WC wants him to go away or come back, the Vamps want to use him against the WC, the Fey might have their own plans (ala repeated offers of knighthood)).  His motivations for leaving the council will say alot about how this character plays (since he isn't a Lawbreaker it might be more political...he got stuck with the blame for leaving the portal to Archangle unattended when it wasn't his fault and now he's ostracized because of it).

Lots of story fodder to be had.

Being an "Outsider" He Who Walks Behind should be enough to scare anyone short of a Senior Council Member.  Without some sort of magical firepower to back him up I think your PC would be asking for a slow and brutal death trying to take him on.

Some Aspects you might consider (being a European WCV):
New to the continent (can be played many different ways including being condescending towards the "colonists", not knowing the social norms, being able to command attention due to being different "those european guys get all the girls who think they sound like Sean Connery"), and driving on the left.
Black sheep of the family similar to the one Thomas has for the Raith family.
My uncle, the prince your family name is associated with a royal family or two, this brings with it some requirements (you must attend certain functions) but brings with it recognition and resources not normally available to the PC.

Think of it as a story and you have to take parts of the story and explain what they mean.  This is how I finally got the handle on Aspects (at least I think I have a handle on them  :D ).

I'm voting a mixed group at feet wet.  Not only does it show the potential for long term progression but it shows that not everyone needs to be a wizard (or how dangerous wizards appear from the outside).  Some ideas I've been playing with for characters that would fit the profile are:
Lottery winning thrill seeker
Misunterstood mechanical genius
Retired medical examiner
Con man with a curse

It's Don Bob, having guys whacked for not paying off their debts to the mob (or whatever) and when the PCs investigate, they discover that Don Bob is a wizard.  They load up to fight presumed warlock Don Bob, but discover that he's a member of the council in good standing.  It's not like Don Bob is breaking the Laws, after all.  If you want to be particularly mean, you can have them find this out after they've put a bullet into Don Bob's head...  ;D  So Don Bob, who was heroically holding back the red court with his underworld connections is now dead.  The city just got more dangerous.

This one I like...sneaky double edged sword.  Now the wardens will want to have a "conversation" with the PCs.  Getting the "hands off" signal from the wardens early on might bring up an "I told you so" situation later that you can use to rope the PCs in to protecting Boston from the RCV.

You started to hit on a good resource: game stores. They may host them, they may work as a clearinghouse for gaming groups to form, etc. - they're always a good place to start.

In a metro area you should have lots of options as long as you have transportation.  Game stores are great for 1: they know what to expect when you tell them what you want to do (run a game) 2: great place to find new players 3: usually has longer weekend hours to accomodate gaming groups.  If nothing else, it will allow you to interact with others until you can find a better place to game (a level of anonymity is good among strangers until you feel comfortable telling them where you live).

I'm using her as a model for a werepanther (think Nastassja Kinski from Cat People) and wanted to make sure I understood how that would work...no wonder Ghouls are such high demand as muscle, that'd make them equal (if uglier) damage wise in a fight.

Erin, when in wolf form, has Claws (treat as weapon 2) and Inhuman Stregnth (add +2 to fist attacks damage).  So every time she lands a bite attack on an opponent its damage has a base of 4?  Am I reading that correctly?  If so, ouch.

Reading the pdf at work has helped get two more people interested in the books (my copies of Fool Moon and Storm Front are currently on loan) and are having their typical page turning crack like effect so another two fans are born!
