You know, A way to look at it might be to look at the titles of the BAT.

Stars and Stones
Empty Night
Hells Bells

Not sure what order they'll be published in, so that may make a difference.

WAG away!

DF Books / Re: If I ever sat down with JB I would ask...
« on: April 18, 2018, 04:19:42 PM »
Why Chicago?  did you live there? go to school there? He says he was inlfuenced by Lieber and tolkien but was it also Kolshak? (sp?)

Chicago was a decision that was made at the request of his publisher.  He wanted to have it set in Kansas City, but that's too close to St. Louis where (I forget her name) already has an Urban Fantasy story set.  He didn't want to do NY or LA, they've been over done.  Didn't want to do Washington, DC, because he didn't want to get into the politics.  Chicago was a good alternative.

Well, shoot.  I love that Jim has found his Lady, but I hate that he moved to Denver.

The signing schedule for Brief Cases came out and there is no KC date.  Closest one is Denver.  UGH!

DF Books / Re: what ever happened to his silver belt buckle?
« on: April 10, 2018, 03:59:15 PM »
Q: In Blood Rites, Harry uses this bear shaped belt buckle, and it just gives him an instant recharge; it never came back! [Laughter]
A: He used it, and then it left him semi-comatose, so it’s not the kind of thing you want to rely on in a life and death situation. [Laughter] All of the stuff he has like that takes him months of work to upkeep, he spends two days a week – his weekends are just staying at home and making sure his magic items still work. He’s such a nerd; he’s a magic nerd. So he doesn’t get out a lot.

I think that would be pretty cool.

Wouldn't it be fun if Hogwarts was sitting on the ground above the Wouncil's headquarters?

Q - I don't know how many people (humans) you know, but ALL of them are super horny by my estimate.  LOL

As to the "liters" of the Non-humanoid fae, I can agree.

Actually, I think he's subtly emphasizing that Harry is a poor narrator.  AND it leaves Jim with the OUT if he needs it.

Curious: There's that line in CD where Mab shows up tense, asked teh Wardens permission, then kinda sorta apoligizes to Alfred.  She relaxes when he acknowledges it as if he lowered a weapon.  I wonder if she was worried that Alfred would view her and Maeve as essentially the same thing (being chunks of the same proto-mantle or whatever the deal is), and was relieved to see he'd developed the nuance to deal with diplomatically.

I took it as something on many levels.  Mab recognizing DR's dominion over this spot of the planet and paying the requisite respect.  Also, we don't know what they "talked" about while Harry was recovering.  It could have been something like, DR didn't like a being of power being present as long as she was, without being interred.  And she was asking permission to AGAIN enter his domain.  ALSO, her letting him know she was there, not to fight him, but to help resolve the issue at hand.

They all still need People.  Which means they are all still limited by the overall rate of Human Reproduction (slower than Fae by design), with the added inefficiency of also needing to hold that resource back to provide food and/or Power.  Im thinking of this in terms of the long-term logistics of fighting a never-ending battle with the Outsiders.

Separately (because this is an interesting line of thought) int he specific case of Blampires we have it by WOJ that they gain power via straight-up kill count.  The the question becomes "Which is a better weapon: 100 level 1 Blampires or 1 blampire powered up by killing the other 99?

Where do you get this?  I wasn't aware of any real difference when they are breeding with humans.  When they are not, we really don't have any evidence (unless there's something in Cold Case.

In fact, with the Fae being long-lived beings, I would guess that the opposite is true.  Otherwise they'd have over populated the planet already.
