DF Spoilers / Changes - LOTR Characters
« on: March 19, 2018, 05:26:39 PM »
In Changes, before they go to Chichen Itza, the group was discussing and arguing about who was who from the Fellowship of the Ring.  I'm trying to recall if we ever got a complete list?

Harry = Samwise
Leah = Gandalf

I remember those two for sure.  The following is my speculation.
Legolas = Thomas (freaky powers kind of match up)
Gimli = Mouse
Susan = Frodo (it's her "ring" they are after)
Sanya = Aragorn (Decendent of "the king")
Martin = Boromir (he's the one who kind of betrayed the quest)

What about Merry and Pippen?  What part does Molly and Karrin play?

DF Spoilers / Nick and the Cup (New Theory?)
« on: March 12, 2018, 02:10:46 PM »
I'm re-listening to SG and got to thinking.

Coming from the perspective that Nick want's to "save the world", and he thinks that there is soon going to be a changing of the guard at the Outer Gates, I'm wondering if he didn't want the cup, and the other artifacts to aid him in taking over that charge.

Think of it this way...

According to legend, the cup grants immortality to anyone who drank from it.  If all of his troops at the gates drank from it, they'd never die.  That would be an awesome advantage over the outsiders who seem to just keep coming and coming.

Also, had he gotten his hands on the Spear of Longinus (the "knife" Harry got), it supposedly grants it's bearer victory all the time.

I don't know what the other artifacts do, but with just those two, someone could defend the Outer Gates forever and never lose.

This is assuming that Nick would be wanting to defend the gates, and not lead the hoard of Outsiders in to our reality, using the same artifacts for them instead of us.

DF Spoilers / New (I hope) Elaine Theory
« on: March 02, 2018, 09:53:30 PM »
So, I'm listening to Cold Days, and Harry and Thomas are talking about how bad it's gotten with the Fomor.

He Thomas mentions that it's bad in cities without defenders, and he mentions Los Angeles.  Rameriez is injured so he wasn't able to defend it.

We know the Fomor are taking those with power.

Since we didn't see or hear about Elaine in CD or SG, could the Fomor have taken her?

DF Spoilers / Maggie Sr
« on: February 07, 2018, 07:38:32 PM »
Okay, this is from the timeline ...

Quote
She runs away as soon as she can get away with it and takes up with bad sorts out of sheer rebellion.  "She made a couple of bad decisions, and . . . and then it was too late for her to go back."  One of her associates includes Justin DuMorne.

We know that DuMorne was a Warden.

According to McCoy, she was to be killed on sight by the Wardens.

So, how long was DuMorne no longer a Warden, or was he a "Bad cop", maybe on the take as a Warden before he got Harry?

DF Spoilers / Small Favor - Arbitrator Choice
« on: February 02, 2018, 04:36:32 PM »
I am re-listening to Small Favor and wonder something.

Gard is the one who asks Harry to get the Wouncil to bring up an objection through the Accords.

I wonder how different things would have been if she'd have gotten Vadderung (a free-holding Lord under the Accords) to bring up the object and called upon Harry to be the Mediator instead of the Archive.

DF Spoilers / White Court Anit-Love and Blood Rites
« on: January 05, 2018, 04:52:09 PM »
In BR we learn about how the White Court can be harmed by TRUE LOVE.

We also know that Genosa is in love.

That being said, when we first meet Lara, she grabs Genosa's arm and leaves the room.

Why can she touch him?  Thomas can't touch Justine, so why can Lara touch Genosa?

Is it possible that Genosa isn't in TRUE LOVE, but in love, and that gives him some shielding against the White court's "come hither" magic?

DF Spoilers / Harry's Blasting Rod
« on: January 03, 2018, 05:32:16 PM »
Harry's blasting rod is described as having runes carved into it.

We know he pumps power into it to shoot fire.  But, does it have some power of it's own, with the runes and all?

DF Spoilers / Nick's Goal in the Vault
« on: December 28, 2017, 04:33:59 PM »
Here's a question .... Why didn't Nick reveal that he wanted more than just the Grail?  He told the group that much, why not say he wanted all of the relics of the Crucifixion?  I know he doesn't want to reveal too much to his enemies, but if he had said he wanted all of them, then Harry would have been obligated give him all of them and not just the Grail.

When he told Harry and crew about what he was wanting, Harry didn't know they were weapons, so it could have been wrapped up in the need to fulfill the obligation to Mab.

DF Spoilers / Containing Characters
« on: December 13, 2017, 07:21:59 PM »
Okay, so reading through some of the threads, I had this thought...

How would you contain, but not kill some of the characters in the books.

Handcuffs would (usually) work on vanilla Mortals like Murphy.

But how would you contain someone like Dierdra?  Not ropes, obviously. Her Razor hair would cut them easily once she changed.
Or her mom?  She just changes into a billion bugs.

How about someone like Hades, or Shagnasty?

Whom else, and how else would you contain some of the others.

No cheating.  We can't say DemonReach.

DF Books / Jim on reposting Peace Talks Chapter 1
« on: December 02, 2017, 02:43:46 AM »
All (Serack) Is there anything out there by Jim about reposting the first chapter of Peace Talks?

I'm talking with someone about it who wants to provide it to others and I could have sworn I saw something from Jim about not doing it.

Thanks.

DF Spoilers / Blackstaff and the Hat
« on: September 28, 2017, 06:35:59 PM »
I just had a HORRIBLE thought.

Okay, we know that Ebenezer is the Blackstaff.

We know that the Blackstaff is an actual thing.

When we first saw it, it "appeared" out of nowhere during the battle of Chicken Pizza.

Further, we know that Ebenezer has a hat, similar to the one that appears on the covers of the books on Harry.

What if, like the sorting Hat, the Blackstaff LIVES in the hat, and that is how Harry will inherit it, and from then on Harry will have to wear a hat?

DF Spoilers / Romulan Commander - or the like
« on: September 15, 2017, 05:16:59 PM »
Okay, this is just for fun, but ....

Toward the end of Ghost Story, there was a battle that was staged on the Bridge of the Starship Enterprise.  The Corpstaker was attacking the various quadrants of Molly's mind.

So, if it's Molly's mind, why was it a "cityscape" being attacked and not a planet or something?  And why was it (now remember we're in her mind) not the Romulans, or the Klingons attacking, instead of only being CorpseTaker?

DF Books / A different kind of Casting
« on: August 30, 2017, 06:06:28 PM »
Okay, I think I tried this once before, but I'd like to try it again.

Cast the major player with the cast from another show/movie.

For instance ....

Harry Dresden
Karrin Murphy
Molly Carpenter
Thomas Raith
Waldo Butters

Add others as you wish.

This is supposed to be fun.

Harry Dresden, played by .... Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce
Karrin Murphy played by .... Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan
Molly Carpenter played by ... Max Klinger
Thomas Raith played by ... BJ Hunnicutt
Waldo Butters played by ... Fr. Francis Mulcahy

Arthur "The Merlin" Langtry played by ... Frank Burns

DF Spoilers / Sword on Sword
« on: July 28, 2017, 04:43:50 PM »
The following partial quote is from another thread, but I have a question for the ranks here ....

They establish the teams. Mab is working against whoever tried to use Molly as a weapon (against the Knights among other things). The GK too. They are helping Harry or rather using him. Molly is ideally placed to cause a lot of damage if she became full warlock on the BC side. Even if the WK caught her and executed her, it would be useful. Imagine Michael's reaction if he found out they beheaded Molly. There would be dead wizards lying in that warehouse, among them maybe the Merlin and Morgan.

The Fetches didn't execute Glau because he was a loose end on their side. That's Harry's assumption then. They killed him as soon as they found out he was BC.

Okay, we know that Morgan's blade has an enchantment that is specifically designed to cut through other magical enchantments/constructs.

What would happen if Morgan and Michael HAD come to blows.  Would Morgan's blade have cut through Michael's faith-fueled Amoracchius?

My first thought is that TWG fuels the sword, so, no way would Morgan's magic over come it.  Then again, the magic in Morgan's sword is specifically designed to break enchantments.

What would happen if a coin carrying Denarian were to be sacrificed on the stone table?
