Woo! Bonus points if you can show me pics of the print magazine's pages. :)

I'll see what I can do tomorrow when I have access to a scanner!

DFRPG / DFRPG featured in Previews
« on: March 31, 2010, 07:10:54 PM »
I picked up my copy of Previews at the local comic shop today.  When I got to the games section, I saw that the Dresden Files RPG is one of the "Featured Items".  It got a spot on page 419 with 5 other products, and a full column box on page 422.  It's also shown here on the Previews website.  That's great publicity!

I would be interested, depending on the price.

What's the site's new IP address?  I might just skip this newfangled DNS crap if I start having withdrawal. ;-)

Looks like the Raiths have gone downmarket.

(Article possibly NSFW, depending on your employer)

UPDATE: The link should actually work now.

Throughout the novels, Harry has given us a lot of info about how magic works (or how he perceives it to work).  Is this info collected together somewhere in the game?

We have too much awesome for one book, it's looking like we may have to split it into two. Our current page count estimate is around 600 total (which would be divided into two books).

Six hundred pages?  I was looking forward to this game.  Now I'm a little scared... ;)

I know there are sensible reasons for breaking it into two books.  Still, it would be fun to have a single-volume edition for the shock value.  "OK folks, we'll get started on character creation as soon as you commit this (THUMP!) to memory."

Hi Lenny!  I remember you talking to Fred on one of the podcasts a couple of years ago.  It's good to see that the shield bracelet problem didn't break your brain. :-)  I, too, am eagerly looking forward to the game.

In case anyone is interested, here's the original short story from 1906: http://www.americanliterature.com/Jacobs/SS/TheMonkeysPaw.html

I think I first encountered it in a high school English reader.

Sometime in 2010, hopefully.

We'll try to be more specific about that before the end of this year.

Put me down for three copies!  Seriously, I'll be giving a couple as gifts.

Yes, I meant after.  What a silly typo!  :-[

I see what you mean about drafts.  I guess making a game does not necessarily follow the classic model of three drafts.

In terms of source material, is SmF still the cutoff?  There was a lot of cool stuff in TC about
(click to show/hide)
, and so forth.

Also, what happens are first draft?  Second draft, I suppose, but does Jim have to approve the text at this point?

:o That's one sick individual. I've got to use that somehow! That would be one scary place in the Nevernever.

If you want to learn more, I recommend The Devil In The White City by Eric Larson (it's referenced several times in the Wikipedia entry).  I learned a lot of cool history from that book, and not just about H. H. Holmes!

I wonder if H.H. Holmes and his "Murder Castle" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._H._Holmes) left a psychic impression on Chicago?  I'm guessing that sane wizards don't attempt to enter the Nevernever in that area...
