DF Books / Re: Just finished reading Peace Talks

I'm tempted to wait until Battle Ground is out and read them together. Don't know if I can wait that long, but we'll see...

DF Books / Art book and Dresden Files companion volume
« on: July 14, 2020, 06:45:32 PM »
Hello all. I resume posting after a years-long absence. Today's release of Peace Talks brought me out of the Never-Never.

I have long thought that it was time for this series to get its own art book. The art in the "Dresden Drops" shows the sheer variety and amount of visual art that exists. I would personally buy the hell out of a big coffee-table "Art of the Dresden Files" book.

This could also be a good time for a companion volume and series guide. I know that the Our World book for the Dresden Files RPG sort of does that, but of necessity it is focused on being part of a role-playing game. I'm thinking of a more general interest book, like "The World of Ice and Fire" for the ASoiaF books. That book is written as an in-universe document just as the DFRPG was. That could be a good narrative approach.  On the other hand, it may be too soon for a companion volume with the series being unfinished.

Thoughts? Also, I haven't been on this forum in a long time, so apologies if this has already been discussed to death.

DFRPG / Re: True Faith of alternate faiths/philosophies?

This is reminding me of a D&D campaign I played in many years ago (20 years, now that I think of it).  I played a priest of Aravache, the god of Trade and Commerce (don't look for this god in any published works, it was a homebrew game).

Anyway, my typical combat role involved going invisible and casting lots of cure spells on the fighters.  We called this the "Invisible Hand" tactic.  Also, when turning undead I would occasionally use this battle cry: "Your assets are LIQUIDATED!"

DFRPG / Dresden Dice
« on: September 27, 2010, 01:50:18 PM »
Here's an interesting tidbit from Grey Ghost Games:

Quote
Even better news: Grey Ghost Games and Evil Hat will be releasing new specialty Fudge dice later this year! Watch for "Olympic Pearlized" Fudge dice in Gold, Silver, and Bronze from Grey Ghost Games, and for "Dresden Dice" from Evil Hat! This is due to a new mold I invested in to expand the color and materials selections for Fudge dice. Expect even more "specialty" Fudge dice in the future!

Mark me down for at least a few sets!  Any chance of some Dresden Fate tokens as well?

DFRPG / Re: Emissary of Lady Luck

I like the concept, and the power suggestions so far are cool.  But what does Lady Luck get out of the deal?  In other words, what s the emissary called upon to do for his sponsor?  How does she complicate his life?

I just searched the term "Dresden Files" on eBay and turned up a dozen auctions for FUDGE dice.

DFRPG / Re: DFRPG t-shirts? And a tie?

From what I was told at Origins they need to finish up with getting things set up with the artist. Trademarks and licencing and all.

That's great, because it implies that they are intending to offer them for sale.

DFRPG / DFRPG t-shirts? And a tie?
« on: July 19, 2010, 12:23:33 PM »
I was looking at some pictures taken at last week's Dresdacon and the Endgame store in Oakland, and I noticed several people wearing rather snazzy Dresden Files RPG attire.  I counted three different t-shirts and a really nice tie (featuring Murphy from the cover of Your Story.

Are these one-off items, or will they be available for sale?

UPS just posted a ton of updates on my package.  It's currently sitting in Lachine (a suburb of Montreal).  My shipment shows an exception; they hung onto it until they had assigned a customs broker.

DFRPG / What would you put in a GM's screen?
« on: June 28, 2010, 05:43:55 PM »
I am the proud owner of a Masterscreen Quad (not made anymore, unfortunately), and I intend to make up some inserts for the Dresden files RPG.  My question to you all is this: if you were designing a four-panel GM screen for the Dresden Files RPG, what would you put on it?

I know the FATE ladder will be there, but otherwise I'm open to suggestions.

Mine just arrived in the mail!  ;D

They are shiny and neat, and make me happy inside.

You are now my worst enemy.  Until my books arrive, of course...  ;)

I can't be accurately represented with stats.  I'm more of a plot device or major event.  Roll badly, and I'll show up in the next scene.  ;)

Good news!  I'm one of those old farts who has trouble absorbing new material from a computer screen.  I mean, I can obviously read web pages, and I've read the odd novel in ebook form, but I need a physical book when I'm studying.

Once I've learned the game, the PDFs will be useful to me as a reference.

I found a couple of articles online that might help your creative process:

Things I Remember About Detroit

The Holdout: alone in an abandoned car plant

The Ghostly Salt City Beneath Detroit

Here's a WCV character concept for you: a Fred Phelps-style minister who feeds on hatred.

Actually, that might be a better NPC...
