DF Spoilers / Re: Unsolved Mystery Book12 Members only cloaks
« on: November 08, 2017, 10:34:12 PM »
Who are members of Grey Council?

I am going to put up a WAG for a member of the Grey Council:  Mavra.

Ok, hear me out:
1)  She was going against (maybe on purpose, maybe not) Cowl and the Black Council to get the Word of Kemler and got our favorite PI on the case
2)  During her escape in Blood Rites, Ebeneezer is conveniently off screen when she escapes.
3)  I think she would want the status quo to be held, and prey still available, as opposed to the Apocalypse.
4)  She's disappeared since Dead Beat which makes me think she's working behind the scenes (AKA Grey Council)

Feel free to point and laugh at my stupidity.  ;D

So my schedule (miraculously) cleared and I will be coming up for the signing.  I saw some talk about meeting before for dinner, what time were people thinking of doing that?  I hope to be there between 5:30-6:00.

I want Jim to stay at home, enjoy his life, wife, and kids

BOOO!!! How dare you make the rest of us look bad by putting Jim's wants ahead of our own  ;)

That said, I hope Jim knows how much we appreciate him doing signing so far away and giving the fans a chance to meet him.

Something that has been bugging me and I haven't seen it discussed much since Ghost Story:

Are we supposed to have figured out who said, "Hush now" and was it in response to the "Die alone!" death curse?

I would also like to hear other people's ideas on this.  I remember possibilities being: Harry's mother, Lash, Mab, & Leah.  For some reason I'm leaning toward Lash.

My impression is that Chicago is looking unlikely, but I could certainly be wrong.  I expect it'll be decided after the holidays.  I'll let folks know as soon as there's something concrete to report.

Alas, I was kind of expecting that.  Thanks for the update, I'll see if I can talk my wife in letting me go to KC, but that doesn't seem likely either.  :'(

I seem to remember somewhere that there was a way you could order a signed and personalized book?  I looked in the store link but didn't see one.

Thanks again for the update and I hope he feels better soon.

Got info from a trustworthy source that the Chicago signing is cancelled, too. Here's to Jim getting better!

That's too bad, but thanks for the update.  I hope it's nothing serious, and if you read this Jim: Get better!  We are sad to miss you, but  still think you are best for how you treat your fans.

You can call and ask the store.  I called about buying a book at another Barnes and Noble (because who can wait 3 days, really?) and they said it would be fine as long as I bought the receipt with me.  So I imagine ordering from BN online would be ok, but best to double check

Would love to drive over from Kalamazoo Michigan area anyone know if are there any hotels in that area that won't break the holiday bank for after the signing it is 151 miles from me to there so would want to catch a few z's before starting back...

Shibby ..

Shibby, you're from Kalamazoo?  My wife and I both went to K College.  I think Skokie is far enough that hotels shouldn't be that much of a problem.

I have a quick question on asking Jim spoiler laden questions.  At signings if it safe to assume everyone has read the previous book?  For instance I want to ask
(click to show/hide)

Would that be something acceptable to ask in the Q-A or should I wait until getting the book signed to ask in semi-private?

Yay!  I guess Chicago can get some extra love because it IS the setting for the Dresden Files.  The whole family will be in costume there with our 2.5 month old dressed as Toot Toot.

(this puts us in the running for either best or worst parents.  I will let you decide)

Here are some of the picture we got from the signing.  It was great, all the people I talked to were awesome.

I am Butters and Anne is Ms. Gard.

Jim is just funny in real life, and seemed really friendly.  I just wish we got to spend more time.

Emgirl and MathGeek, we looked for you guys too, and had no clue. I only saw one Butters, in a blue scrubs, was that you? he's in one of the pics, look close by the post, is that you???  (See, to the left of the post, the guy in the blue scrubs?)

Aww, would have loved to talk to you, GW!!  Or did I scare you *snickers, then hugs*

Yep, that was me.  I'll post some of the pictures  that were taken... just as soon as I figure out how.

The Ms. and I will be dressed as Ms. Gard and Butters respectively.  We plan on getting there some time between 5:30 and 6 (depending on traffic, Google maps has us getting there at 5) so dinner sounds good.  I just discovered Jim last year so this is my first signing.  ;D

YAY!!!  The Mrs. and I will be coming up from Peoria area.  We were planning on going to the KC one, but work/school interfered.
