DF Spoilers / Cameo in Bigfoot short story #2
« on: January 29, 2026, 02:04:12 PM »
Was rereading...

Paranoid Gary (AKA just Gary) pops up in the 2nd installment as one of the Bigfoot hunters that Harry travels with on his way to see River Shoulders.

Kinda funny.

I'm purposely not reading forums because I'm currently listening, but has anyone else noticed Audible (Audio) quality issues? Specifically, sentences are being chopped at the end? Mostly the letter S at the end of words?

DF Spoilers / Estate Planning for Wizards
« on: January 15, 2026, 03:35:05 PM »
What happens when a wizard dies--other than the obvious. I was thinking about this on the way home from work. Mostly with regards to Eb and Harry. Will Harry inherit Eb's estate? Will he have Hog Hollow as his home away from home? What magical goodies will Eb leave Harry?

A reread of Death Masks got me thinking. Eb offers to let Harry hang out at the farm until the Paolo Ortega stuff blew over, but Harry declines and accepts the duel. He tells Eb that there's some stuff in his basement and he'd know how to find it. (Presumably Bob)

Just made me think about estate planning for wizards and whatnot like that.

Thoughts and musings?

DF Spoilers / Monsters
« on: November 16, 2025, 08:10:30 PM »
I recently reread Monsters. Gotta say, I really want to know more about Goodman. I'd go as far to say I'd like a series of Goodman novels. Of all DF supporting characters, his is the most compelling to me. Jim has given us scraps about who he is and what, but I would love it he explored his story more. the Grey Files. hehe

I wonder if he'll show up in the Twelve Months or MM.

DF Spoilers / Latest Star Trek Strange New Worlds--Spoiler alert
« on: August 09, 2025, 01:43:13 AM »
Just finished latest----So, if you watch, then you know, but the latest episode just had a multidimensional prison that Carol Kane's character just referred to as a Well. Guess who its prisoners are? Ancient, malevolent baddies.

I found it very interesting. I'd be curious. I reached out to one of the writers just in case.

Cheers all!

DF Spoilers / Malcolm Dresden
« on: July 04, 2025, 12:42:53 AM »
Rereading Skin Game.

I had a thought. (Stop the presses!  ;D) In SG, when asked about his whereabouts by Murphy, Harry (getting his arm fixed) refers to Michael as a Good Man. We've heard Ebenezer refer to Malcolm in the same way. So, I wonder if Malcolm may've been a Knight of the Cross--even if only a short time--like Murphy and her use of the sword--Not the right full-time job for her, but right for a particular one. So...wouldn't that be something?

That's all I have.

Off to reread a little more.

Cheers and best to all!

DF Spoilers / Dresden spells and would you change them
« on: June 29, 2025, 02:21:21 AM »
I've had a few moments when I've thought, "Gee, I think Infriga would've been better than Fozare in this scene." Ever have those moments? I'm sure there are reasons for each--Fire isn't best here, could hurt bystanders...Force is better...As we see Dresden develop a bit more finesse with magic along the way, I think it would be cool to see his spell-casting become even more nuanced.

When he and Asher go to the party to get Valmont, I thing Infriga would've been cool instead of Fozare in dealing with the initial appearance of the Fomor and the octokongs.

DF Spoilers / Ghost Story--two things
« on: June 07, 2025, 01:43:59 AM »
Continuing my re read of the Files. Good stuff. Previously, and I'm not sure why, GS never seems to stick with me for some reason. I've both read and listened to it. It's the odd one for me in the series. This time, it feels much better to me. Not sure if I'm just in the right mindset or what, but details are really sticking and I'm nearly done and I can't wait until the end and maybe restart it.

1st--Am I the only one who feels this way? Or out of all the novels, is this the one that doesn't hit a homeroom initially and you have to come back to it?

2nd--Harry as the Winter Knight. As a spirit, should Harry have been able to draw upon Winter? I mean, he was able to capitalize on his magical memories and use them as weapons...shouldn't he have been able to do the same with Winter? (And maybe even more so and to a more dramatic effect?)

Ok. Cheers and best to everyone!

DF Spoilers / Thomas
« on: May 19, 2025, 08:19:33 PM »
I think it's been awhile, but I vaguely remember a discussion about what happens to Thomas. Can't remember exactly, but there's a moment in Harry's discussing the swords in Changes (again--rereading) and I've concluded that Amoracchius will banish his demon and leave him fully human. And then, he'll take up the sword. Or by taking up the sword of Love, he'll be able to keep his demon at bay.

I don't know---some combo of that. I'll go back and find what triggered it for me, but I'm sure I'm not the only one. Maybe Butters slices away the evil and leaves him fully human...???

I don't know--just something. lol

DF Spoilers / Turncoat
« on: May 10, 2025, 08:02:01 PM »
Obviously, I've been rereading.  ;D

Near the end of Turncoat, Dresden and McCoy are talking about the fact that Peabody wasn't by himself on the island. Who was the 2nd person? Did we find out and I missed it along the way? Do we think this was Cowl joining him in Chicago? Some other Black Council wizard/entity?

Hope all are well. Cheers!

DF Spoilers / Harry's force rings
« on: April 25, 2025, 01:34:14 AM »
Was wondering a little bit about these. Harry describes charging them with his own motion throughout the day and whatnot like that. He hits the heavy bag at one point to recharge them. I was thinking if it's kinetic energy like how watches maintain charge(?), wouldn't it be possible for Harry to use some sort of device to do this like those used for watches? I'm sure the technology aspect of it may negate it, but I'm just thinking that it should be possible.

DF Spoilers / And another thing...Justine
« on: April 12, 2025, 04:43:31 PM »
Right before Harry and Carlos duel Malvora and Madrigal Wraith, he chats with Justine. He asks how she's up and around. She's more than a bit evasive I think. Sorry, I've been listening, so don't have the exact quote.

I'm sure this has been discussed, but Nemfected would explain it all, but it kind of pins down a timeline for infection of Justine.

Feel free to tell me it's been discussed and where have I been.  hehe

Cheers to all!

DF Spoilers / Do you think we'll see Elaine again?
« on: April 11, 2025, 02:33:43 PM »
I'm rereading White Night and I'm wondering about Elaine more and more. Remember all the thinking that Elaine might be Kumori? I keep thinking about the mental whammy DuMorne played at with Elaine and any number of other things and think we certainly haven't seen the last of Elaine. I also wonder if she could be of the thinking that black magic isn't necessarily used for bad things like Kumori saving the man's life using necromancy. I haven't put my finger on it, but there's something prickling at the back of my brain. Maybe she's black council? She's anti white council based on her discussion with Harry about going before the WC. It's thin, but possible.

Anyway--Hope all are well.

DF Spoilers / How many times have you read the Dresden Files?
« on: April 08, 2025, 03:07:58 AM »
Read, listened to, thought about...

I've read them through multiple times and listen to them regularly on my work commute. I'm currently on my umpteenth reread and currently on White Knight. I feel like he's a friend I get to say hello to from time-to-time. It's comfortable. When I don't have other books going--always a few--I'll play one of the Dresden Files novels in the car and I'm right back to that feeling you get the first time you read a story that you fall for. It's pretty wonderful.

Don't feel like you have to answer to topic question. I'm sure there are loads of you in the same boat I'm in and that, in itself, is pretty cool.

Thanks and best to you, Fellow Dresden-philes (Is that a thing?),

DF Spoilers / Cowl-Deadbeat revisit
« on: March 17, 2025, 03:58:19 PM »
Just finished a reread. I know it's been discussed, but Cowl's scarred arms...Any ideas? Was there ever confirmation about Talvi Inverno having scarred arms? If not, okay, but over time, wouldn't the scars have faded or even disappeared (a la Harry's hand healing)?

As much as those here wanting a resolution to the question to Cowl, do we really have one?
