My dm said that he is taking creative liberties since it is alternate universe, so in terms of time period. It will be set in the 1300's. More or less. An by improved survival I meant not die in the first game session.

Whoa, didn't think I would get a response. Bogged down with exams on my end so trying to get that sorted out before  doing anything else. So, I will get to answering your questions.

No, guns will not be prevalent where we are at so that will not be an issue.

Anglo-saxon period.

The reason why I have to build the character with said stipulations is that the dm didn't want everyone to come in as nobles. So to make things interesting and with permission from the other players rolled to see whether each player is either a commoner, low noble, mid noble or high noble. Commoner and low noble means that you are born and raised in England. Mid and high noble are foreigners. Lore was gimped because as far as everyone and their mother knows, magic is the talk of crazy people and superstition.

Yes I have total control over background/friends/family.

I'll be sure to grab more information from the dm so I know what I am getting into.

DFRPG / Need help with a character idea
« on: December 05, 2017, 04:16:33 PM »
Good morning.

I have been tasked by my dm to create a character with the following stipulations and homebrew rules. Character can be male or female (I decided on male), second born of two children from a father who is a knight. The surname is Lemming and our house's status is of low nobility. The mother is deceased and my family's relationship is good. The game will take place in an alternate version of the world in England, set in medieval times. Story is about trials, tribulations, change and political gain. Those of common and low noble birth are all born and raised in England, medium to high nobility are all foreigners outside of England. The lore skill is considered the info for religion and superstition, to our knowledge magic is not real. An is regarded as the talk of crazy people.

Everyone has to be pure mortal so we start off at feet in the water difficulty.

The furthest I've come up with for the character is this: His name is Klaus Lemming, the youngest son of Sir Raolin the Brave and the late Lady Seraphina of House Lemming. He is 13 years old and his older brother is 18. He looks and acts very much like his mother, which his father resents him for since it reminds him of his lost love. Who was known for her kindness, cunning and intelligence. Klaus's birthday is seen as the anniversary of her death rather than a day of celebration. The oldest is very much like his father but serves as a foil so that Klaus does not feel that the world is against him. He greatly seeks his father's approval and feels that the best way to do so would be to increase the political and military standing of his house.

Which will include getting his hands dirty.

This is a character I envision who would like to see use his brain to formulate and think his way out of problems and situations. Or even benefit it to his advantage. With inspiration stemming from Tyrion Lannister and Oberyn Martell, I would very much like valuable input to help bring this character to life as much as possible. Any and all input would be extremely grateful.

Thank you!

P.S. I am also having problems with what kind aspects to give him to match this characters backstory, along with stunts for improved survival. Would deeply like help on that aspect as well please. Much appreciated.

Thank you kindly, this is definitely what I was looking for. Though my dm is a bit of a stickler for creativity, I can definitely see myself playing a character like this. Never thought about using Survival to attack with, that is very impressive. Thank you very much!

Looking for ideas on how I would be able to build a pure mortal similar to Lara Croft, but one whose occupation is a huntsmen. My limit is 6 (+2 for pure mortal makes it 8) and my skillpoints is 20. Its needed for a last of us esque like setting. My dm's words are that survival is all that matters and that. So far this is what I've managed to come up with.

High concept: humanity's last hope (dm said all players should have this)

Trouble: not sure what this should be
Great: survival, weapons
Good endurance, athletics
Fair stealth, investigation
Average: alertness, might

All input is deeply appreciated and if you need me to better explain. Then please do not hesitate to ask and I will be sure to clarify. I would like to make survival my go to skill in pertaining to stunts. Or if you have ideas. Please share.

Powers are not allowed and everyone has to be pure mortal in game.

Just what I was looking for, thank you so much! An yea I will most definitely have a sit down and talk with him because I would be deeply annoyed if my character dies, all because he tried to twist the rules. An take advantage of my ignorance.

That is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much for the speedy response and for being so clear to me. It helps alot.

I've been searching and scratching my head as to how I can use craftsmanship in cool and unique ways. Hence the high frequency blade idea. Thinking of also making body armor so I don't be so squishy. I need to think outside the box because I feel that my dm is ramping up the difficulty in his encounters, but not giving us the means to combat it as effectively as we should for our refresh.

Also a question on conceeding. Can that work on anyone? Including creatures hellbent on trying to kill you? Because my dm tried to convince me otherwise and I'd rather the opinions of those who have the experience and knowhow.

Again, you have thanks.

I have no issue with time, I'd just like to know what exactly do I need to get it done. An good to know its possible, very glad indeed.

Also, is there any resource here that can give me a run down on how I can get the hang on aspects? Or how I can better use them to help me?

With the skill craft, is it possible for a human with a high enough craft and scholarship to build from scratch a high frequency blade?

A hf blade is a sword reinforced by a powerful alternating current and resonating at extremely high vibration frequencies. This oscillation weakened the molecular bonds of anything it cuts, thereby increasing its cutting ability.

Or what exactly are the limits can a player character get away with said skill? Thoughts and opinions please, much appreciation.

DFRPG / Re: True Shapeshifting help
« on: August 13, 2017, 11:01:28 PM »
My original character concept was a swordsman who was adopted as kid, and for as long as he rememberd he possessed weird abilities. He does not know his real parents and the only thing that has ever been his true friends, are his parents and his a greatsword. A moonlight greatsword that he practices with every day. Due to circumstance he meets the party, finds kinship with them and has been adventuring with them from childhood. He recently discovered that one of his parents is an outsider and has had fair share of tragedies.

He follows the emissary of power template and has no interest in magic or learning it. Mechanically he has all the inhuman abilities. Strength, speed, toughness and recovery.

DFRPG / True Shapeshifting help
« on: August 13, 2017, 07:52:09 PM »
Good afternoon, I wanted to know if there was anyone who can give me some help with true shapeshifting? My group and I hit a major milestone and due to story purposes, he said that I am now able to take true shapeshifting. The problem with that is I don't really know its full capabilities, or how I can go about using it properly. I originally wanted to spend my 8 extra refresh that I have been stock piling up on a rainy day for my supernatural abilities. (My dm said that everyone is limited to one supernatural ability until he says otherwise. It irked me but I went with it, despite the fact that we have 5 spellcasters in a party of 8.)

I am considering taking supernatural speed and true shapeshifting, though I am not sure if that is the best idea. Open to suggestions, criticism and even game experience. Much appreciated!

DFRPG / Need guidance on supernatural senses please

I was wondering if folks can give me an idea of what would be allowed for a power like broad supersenses, since it looks like a very good investment. Is it possible to have a sense to sniff out when someone is trying to lie to you? OR better yet, can you give examples of how far can I go with a power like this?

Also how would you describe daredevils supersenses in the dresdenverse for this express purpose?

Hey fellas! I am looking to see if anyone has did a stat build on Chauncey. The crab demon from fool's moon. Mostly to have an idea of how a demon should be built, especially one who makes it his business to barter to those who summon him.
