Like Lord of Light? The wiki page calls it science fantasy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_of_LightI have never read that but it looks interesting. I think it leans more scifi than that though.
We always need more shelvesHonestly it kind of feels like if you dressed up a fantasy book in scifi clothes. It has a lot of fantasy tropes but it technically is scifi i guess. However the technology to cross worlds is based on a potato and they don't actually know how it works.
I agree about Lucifer and I loved the crossover!!
Is Long Earth fantasy?
And Happy birthday Regen, here you have a thread! https://www.paranetonline.com/index.php/topic,54276.0.html
Yes, books are everywhere here, not only in the shelves. Thank God for Kindle.I think I need two more book shelves.
We were aware Lucifer season 5B arrived to Netflix yesterday but we have not seen any of it yet. Soon, I guess. I really like the show, even when it is nothing that Gaiman's Lucifer in the comics.
Sorry, I have not read the Long Earth series. In fact, I had not heard about it.
Actually now I remember, in our old home I had themed bookshelves. Though mostly the themes changed in the shelf itself. For example there was one with encyclopedias, science and medicine books. And the same shelf contained young fantasy.Themes are fun. young fantasy of course belongs with those books because what is young fantasy but science not yet explained lol
Regen, such amazing plans. Hopefully next year.I loved the Good Omens show. Tennent was amazing. The overall feel was great. Such a great adaptation. I think I should do a rewatch here soon.
I've spent my birthday in London in 2017. It is a big deal because it's very far from here.
GW, I love your categories, specially Weird books.
My books are mostly organized by collections or more or less genre, but they are also organized by "enough space to put similar books together". That s why I have 3 World of Warcraft books (hubby's. I have not read them) adjacent to the 13 "A series of unfortunate events" books. Of course. Dresden Books are all together.
I don't remember if we talked about this, GW, but I loved the Good Omens show.
LOLWell that sounds like his problem lol. As long as it makes sense to one of you lol.
I almost drove my husband insane, because I categorized our collective CD collection into genres. Each category was in itself in alphabetical order and I even labelled the categories. He wasn't able to find anything, which I couldn't understand. He didn't understand my system.
Good Omens was amazing.I need to watch that still. I kind of forgot that was still going.
We have watched Lucifer season 5 episodes 9-11 today.
@GWJust created a classics category after realizing how many there were. Also I have split up authors if they have books in different genres.
weird books LOL.
Nice system.
I have to admit, I don't have a system, not really. My books are organized more in the categorys:
-Read only one time, but keep here
-Plan to read again
-Read several times and will read again
And same author of course
((((((GW))))))) Have fun!Thank you! ((((DINA)))) I'm glad you can finally relax. I'm hope you have a good weekend.
(((((Regen)))) Have fun too! That sounds so good, mixing a nice forest with the technology of the cellphone. And I love picknics. Please, tell us how it goes.
London? Have you planned a vacation? Well, it will be fine, London will still be here.
I finally can relax a little after the exam, it was difficult to make the exam and grade it.
Good maen too !!!Sounds like you have a good weekend planned. I'm going to a cook out tomorrow.
I'm fine. How are you?
It finally feels like spring outside! Yay!
I'm making some muffins for tomorrow. We want to do a picknick in the forest.
Maybe we will visit the zoo on Monday, but not sure. Maybe do something else, now that they are slowly reopening.
I don't do audiobooks, my oral EnglishSays the person who knows 5 languages. You genius.is not that goodsucks. Also, I want to read "light of the jedi" first. I am rather busy though.
May the 4th be with you!Oh no I hope they get better soon.
I am well, thank you, but I am worried because several persons I know are with Covid (with a different degree of seriousness). Also, I have my classes in a while, so I am doing last minute preparations, but I wanted to say hello. And thanks for writing Snowy! Please send her my regards if you can.
Sorry about the double post. I wanted to comment that I tried the Tajin dressing tonight. It's a Mexican mix of peppers, salt and lemon. Sometimes it is written Tahin which is confusing, because Tahini or Tahine is an Arabian sauce, not similar at all. Anyways, tajin is delicious. I even took a shot of tequila and had the border of the small shot laced with tajin. Really tasty.Sounds very interesting, I think im going to track it down to try it.
Hah Dina! You beat me to this one May the 4th be with you too.Try to stay cool my friend.
It's extremely hot here these days. 40-44 °C. My pool is getting a workout.
I don't know that Mistborn is really a good starting point for Sanderson. It's a series that gets significantly better on rereads when you can connect the dots on stuff you learn earlier. Vin gets a lot more interesting as the story goes on but the early story does drag a bit.I think this is an accurate assessment. It was actually the Wheel of Time series that got me into Sanderson. He breathed new life into the series making it funny and allowing the story to move forward again. He turned Egwene from one of my least fav characters to maybe my second fav. I loved her ending arc.
Listen, I don't mean to break your heart, only manage expectations. Did you hear the uproar last summer about it?
I've read The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss in German. I had the first book from a coworker and the second from the library. It was beautifully translated. Once the next book is out, I'm going to buy the others in English. I'm very excited to read the original. I'm a bit nerdy about how a story is written. And I love authors who can use their words in artful ways, if you know what I mean.
