[12M spoilers] Apprentice

Here there was a previous discussion about Harry's new apprentice, and I am so glad I did not read it before reading 12M. That way, I was completely surprised, and in a good way. But it is interesting to revisit it now and congratulations to those who got it right. Also, did JB lie about the apprentice being a new character or there was a confussion?

Jim has said he's an unreliable narrator because he gets confused about which version he wrote and misspeaks sometimes.

Basically, "don't hold me to it until it's in a book."

AFAIK, the blurb specified that Harry had a "new apprentice," and Jim never stated that it was a new character.  Molly was a "new apprentice" for a novel or so, but not at all a new character.

Yes, but in the page 3 of that thread I posted, someone (the name is not relevant here) posted:

I watched a bunch of interviews with Jim yesterday. In one interview he said it was an entirely new character. He brought up the joy of idiocy, the writing concept where the writer wants an ignorant character who can ask all the questions about the world that the reader would ask. The apprentice is going to be our new idiot.

He said in another interview that Harry was going to get a Valkyrie body guard.

That is why I was wondering if this was a confusion or Jim has lied.

It was me. Jim had said new character. I think he might have said "brand new".
