Cinder Spires Spoilers / Re: Thoughts about "Iron Rot"
« on: November 16, 2015, 12:49:39 AM »
Remember, people no longer live on the surface, but in high altitudes where oxygen should be thinner.  However, everyone seems to be relatively fine.  So maybe, one of the reasons why people have left the surface, is because there's just too much of an abundance of oxygen down at the surface.

I suppose this could make sense, but people do live on the surface, and they seem to be scared of the wildlife on the surface-not the atmosphere.

I don't see the height of the spires necessitating an abnormal atmosphere.  If they're two miles high, not a big deal.  Hell, 4 miles high should be habitable-you'll just run a bit slower, is all.

(though your cycling will be -much- faster...)

Cinder Spires Spoilers / Re: Should I feel offended?
« on: November 16, 2015, 12:25:21 AM »
I feel like this thread has more people trying to marginalize the offense Dina is arguing, rather than acknowledging it.

Some of y'all are reaching pretty far, too.  It's kinda rude.  And weird.

"I'm offended by these depictions, and here's why."
"I, with my completely different cultural background(and philosophy as a reader), didn't parse nuance the same way, so your feelings are wrong, and so are you."

I'm pretty confused by people saying, "Oh, yeah, Albion is clearly British, because of this characterization..." but somebody saying, "I find the Latin stereotyping of Aurora offensive" gets a response of "Oh, you're just making things up and reading too much into it, it's totally not an analogue to an Earth culture/history."  Really?  That odd sound you hear is cognitive dissonance.

So far the answer seems to be None :P

Well there are lots of relics from Saints in cathedrals and whatnot, but we've no idea on their authenticity, true location or power levels.

Sadly.

Though how talking cats showed up would be interesting.

You think a profile with hundreds of posts dating back years is a spamming shill?

Or he had it covered because of his relationship with Luccio.  I'm not sure why he'd be keeping it from her, but he seemed to be keeping it from everyone except Molly.  If Luccio is popping in and out, he might have just had it covered so that she wouldn't spot it if she came in while he was in the basement with the hatch door open.

Of course, that might intrigue her more than anything, and intriguing the captain of the wardens about what you're up to in your secret sub-basement lair doesn't sound like a good idea.

If that was the goal, I suspect Bob would be hidden as well.

Especially since they put another building on top of it.  Generally you don't build on top of piles of burnt rubble, you clear the rubble first.

But with his brother missing and being tortured by one of the most evil beings Harry's ever laid his Sight on, he settles for tracking spells using the copper circle?  And completely neglects to mention LC in text, or even explain why it isn't used?

That doesn't make any sense.

Does LC have Demonreach installed on it?

I'm sure the archive already knows plenty, she just can't/doesn't say much.

Paying would cost $5/month. Not all that much, but I'm not keen to reward Wikispaces for pulling this free/not free bait-and-switch. And I'm not sure exactly who would pay.

Set up a paypal or similar!

I don't have it in me to be upset over the change.  Bandwidth isn't free, and being free while building up a user base, and then trying to be profitable is a pretty standard business tactic.  It's nice of them to be free for education, imo.

I like that idea.

Besides, the laws govern mortal human wizards. The mantle is part of faerie.

And if you play with fire, well, you're going to get burnt.

You also likely become a cautionary tale to apprentices.

edit: never mind; didn't realize pages had passed.

I agree with that head-canon though, I do the same.
