i think there are more.. its the description of 'two ice cold picks' thats important. starting with Mab and small favor.

The two ice picks might imply to separate yet equal forces at work, like having two simultaneous brain aneurisms. In Harry's case, it could imply to 'forces' fighting within his head for control or escape. Only one parasite is mentioned, but maybe the other isn't a parasite but something else entirely.

He and few other WC vampires have a certain level of ability.  The problem is that it takes a lot of dedicated time and effort.  This brings up certain problems like...
Any other vampire would consider being tired and drained from practicing magic enough of an opening to kill them outright.
It is often tied to their hunger so it makes their demon tired as well.
They only use it for particular uses so they tend to advance to the level of sorcerer instead of becoming full wizards.

I still think there is more to it than that. If a human can practice magic, a WCV should be able to as well. They are human enough.

I forget where but Jim mentioned that Harry has no idea if Thomas and Eb know each other.
Toot Toot is growing due to an increase in influence and power (a la Harry).  Jim jokingly made a mention of pizza as well.
Of course he will pay taxes; it is the US government after all.

Now to ask my serious questions...  :-[

Actually, right now there is only one question that keeps eating at me.

What is the truth regarding Thomas' low level of magical ability? How is it that the first born of Margaret LeFae doesn't display more magical ability?

Does Ebenezer know that Thomas is his grandson?
Does Thomas know that Ebenezer is his grandfather?
Will we learn more about Margaret LeFae and her relationship with Lord Raith?
Why is Toot Toot growing?
Will Harry have to pay taxes while living on Demonreach?

I guess I should add, although it might not be important:

Allison Ann Summers, I think, was born right around Halloween.  If Winter and Summer are all about balance, then Summer would, also, want an "entity" able to effect the Outsiders.  As we don't know the particulars of her birth, there is no reason to suspect that she was to be Summer's Child of the Stars.  But... ;) it's possible.  Considering the unique things happening around that time (thinning of the thread), there's a chance that the timing is unique astrologically speaking.

The year of birth might be as important as the day, still isn't that around the same time Little Harry Carpenter was born?  Maggie's birthday is in November IIRC,  but in a different year.  Have no idea what the rule is.  So this child, Allison, may not even qualify.

Justine's reaction to Maeves comment was questionable, but Maeves comment is enough to convince me that Justine isn't infected.  Almost surprised Maeve knew who Justine was.

Why? Death, cold and darkness is the future of the universe. So Skuld does seem more logical.

The future hasn't happened yet, so is usually represented as the youngest (like with baby new year, or the three goddesses in the Manga), the one creates the threads of fate. The past has happened, so is the oldest, the one who cuts the threads of fate.

I like this idea.  I will admit that bringing up the three goddesses idea seemed to distract from my original idea a bit (tying in the Mothers to the Fates), but if instead the three Fates are some combination of traits from each of the various Queens (Mother Winter's malice, Titania's motheriness, and the Ladies' youthfulness), that would clear up the issue.

I also admit that I saw Mother Summer and Winter interacting a bit like Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg (from Discworld) in my head.

However, that begs the question of how the Mothers came to be in the first place.  We know Mab was mortal once and a WoJ suggests she got her power via an ascension ritual.  But Mother Winter has never stepped down (while Mother Summer did, which is another interesting topic in and of itself), so Mother Winter must have either existed before and took up a new role or was mortal herself.

It's the position, not the current holder of the position that is important. Wasn't it said someplace that Fae don't reproduce with other Fae but with mortals? Meaning that most new Fae started out as changelings? Though creating a Fae from a mortal, (aka Molly) is not something I fully expected to be possible but I guess it is.

One note, one of the names used by Harry to Summon Mother Winter was Skuld. In Norse myth, Skuld is the Norn of the Future. Mother Winter should have been summoned using the name Uršr (Or Urd).

Book 2 - a major character who is cursed with a supernatural condition later in life (Finn)
Book 12 - major character who is cursed with a supernatural condition later in life (Susan)

That's very weak however.

Maybe not, considering that both Finn and Susan struggled with becoming a monster that would even attack the people they care about.

    • Justine

White Knight

Rather than considering the smaller number patterns, which gets awkward due to the way some of the categories tend to blur together, I'm sticking with the "Book #1-10, plus 10" pattern. It doesn't work with Storm Front or Fool Moon, but it seems to work fairly well for the three books after that.

Book #3: All about ghosts, and one ghost in particular, the Nightmare. Harry generates a ghost himself.
Book #13: All about ghosts, and Harry himself is one for all but the final chapter.

Book #4: All about the fae, even called Summer Knight.
Book #14: Apparently all about the fae, and was almost called Winter Knight.

Book #5: We get introduced to the Denarians, and they figure most prominently in the story.
Book #15: We've been told that this will be the next time we see the Denarians.

Following this pattern, we get:

Book #6: Mostly about the White Court, especially the inner politics of said Court.
Book #16: Will the White Court figure prominently in the story? Maybe things with Lara come to a head?

Book #1 had a focus on Harry's Relationship with Morgan.
Book #11 Also focused on Morgan and Harry's relationship, now switched.

Can't see any pattern with #2 Fool Moon and #12 Changes.

A few questions:

-Will we ever find out what others see when they soulgaze Harry?
-Considering how many times Harry has Soulgazed, for the other person looking at him do they each see something different about Harry?
-Is Harry and Michael's relationship inspired by the Merlin/Arthur relationship from the Arthurian Legends?
-what is Little Maggie's official last name? Is it Dresden now?
-will we see more of Little Harry Carpenter?
-Will Justine ever have Thomas's child?
-will any of Harry's friends ever betray him?
-will we ever find out what Margaret LeFae was discussing with Lord Raith, Arianna Ortega , and Ebenezer at that dinner party?
-How much magical potential was Thomas born with? If he wasn't a White Court Vampire could he have become a Wizard?

These are some of the questions I  would ask Jim if I got the chance.
