DF Spoilers / Re: [BG Spoilers] A question that has been bothering me

Thomas as the Winter Knight could actually work.  Suppose Justine and the child disappear or die.  Thomas agrees to accept the knight's mantle to be released from Demonreach and free Harry for whatever comes next.  That puts him in place to work with Lady Molly, someone who soul gazed him early in the case files and with whom he has an established relationship . Mab gets her Winter - White Court alliance without Harry's wedding.  Of course, Mab doesn't let anything happen until the night before or day of the ceremony. . .

I'm with StrayDog about the whole feel of the last 2 books.  The Star Wars idea breaks me out of the DF mode every time.  I used to like Butters but not so much any more.  Does he still have a job at the morgue?  And it really rankles that when Harry can't manage to say 2 complete words about Murph during the Graceland coffin scene, Butters steps in to handle it for him.  We don't even hear the words, just Harry thinking about how much Butters is seen as a hero.  Why not Michael or one of the alphas or someone from the Paranet?  No, it's another opportunity to put the newest Knight front and center, the one so new his Sword came with "training wheels" so he can't hurt the wrong person/thing/monster accidently because he didn't have the skills yet to identify friend from foe in the heat of battle. . .

How ironic was it that Harry put into play the "no sex" requirement for Molly when he took her on as his apprentice, thus setting her up for a mantle in the first place?

DF Books / Re: So how is BG?
« on: October 19, 2020, 06:21:47 AM »
After 2 weeks of "slogging" I made it to Chapter 27.  It reads unevenly, there is an obvious "bromance" involving the author and one character who developed into something akin to a superhero largely off screen over the last 3 books.  It's impossible to keep any timeline in mind and forget remembering where some characters are during battle scenes.  For me, it feels as if the author spent 3 years jotting down epic pieces of battles then sat down at the kitchen table to try and string them together.  The editing is sub par.  Not sure if it's worth the effort to try and read the book all the way through.

Soooo, still time to do a leisurely series reread if you didn't already do it, say twice, since Skin Game was a year old. . .

What a coincidence that Mike just happened to leave exactly what Harry was going to need in the trunk.

Murphy's skill with swords wasn't an issue, she held Nic and was winning, barely, until she spoke 2 words:  "Damn you." Her pronouncing a "judgement" changed everything about the battle.
