You can refuse the compel, but it costs a you a FP and the debt isn't considered to be paid back.  Eventually, you have to accept to pay off the debt.  The important thing is that you don't receive a FP for accepting the compel because you've already gotten something in advance.

Or that's how I read it.
this, to me

And, the way I see it, if you're "adjudicating it like a grapple" then if someone beats the power of the roll, they throw the goop off their face.

Actually, Harry pulls out a copy to check before the duel with Ortega, but gives up on the language after half a sentence or so, getting "the Cliff's Notes version" from Bob ;)
Forgot that, thanks

Ah, sorry! I missunderstood you, I thought you meant the Knight of the Cross were in under a different name, and that made me a bit confused that I'd missed it :p

The denarians are probably in under "The Order of the Blackened Denarius" or possibly "The Knights of...", these names did probably have no meaning whatsoever to Harry last time he actually read through the accords properly. (if he ever did...)
I'd wager that there isn't a fully written version of the Accords, or if there is, not where Harry can't access it. What he knows of it is probably through Eb or trial-and-error.

I'm not sure I agree philosophically about the downshifting from wolf to man not taking you out if your injury is grievous enough, but it looks that way mechanically.

That makes a fair bit of sense. So in diplomatic or chatty contexts, if dishonesty or dealmaking came up somehow, the character would likely be compelled to play it straight and keep promises and such, via the High Concept Aspect. I can dig it; it'll be a fruitful ground for fate points, I reckon.
You don't need to "play it straight." Mab is such an example of using loopholes and exact wording to your benefit. You don't need to lie to hide the truth.

Correct, and it's stated in one of the books aswell, I'm fairly certain it's in Small Favor.

It's actually pretty logical, once you look at it. If the church or the Knights of the Cross did sign, they would now have obligations to respect and possibly even defend other signatories at times. You just know that someone like Nicodemus would bend and twist situations so that he could screw over the Knights with the Accords... ;)
Sure, made sense, and I remembered it from *somewhere* in the books, but I don't own them to even begin to dig through books 5 and 10 to find the one line that would mention that, lol.

Figured I'd go to the mighty Forums with the folks that live and breathe this :)

Interesting concept that I've heard on a podcast, was someone using Incite Emotion on either an Outsider or super ancient Fae, to show them human emotions to show the pain they cause... pretty good block roll with it, that let someone come in and lop its head off with a Warden Sword.

If I've read the areas of OW correctly, the Denarians are part of the Unseelie Accords but not the Knights of the Cross?

DFRPG / Scion Question
« on: May 05, 2013, 12:52:46 AM »
Hey DFRPG Community,

When you make custom Scion templates, do you include some sort of catch or action that if they do, they fully become the supernatural template? This came up recently in a discussion. I say if you base it on Changelings (and for that matter the WCVi and the RCI templates) there has to be some consequence that could make you go into either NPC land or near to it. At the same time, I understand the aspect of making a PC into an NPC and limiting what they can take is sort of a tactical nuke option. If everyone has the same refresh, does this ever make the game unbalanced or does that matter? Does imposing this sort of "catch" on a player seem fitting to the -Verse?
