I've always thought this one was pretty good:

(I could never be one of the extras in the background.  I'd be grinning ear to ear the whole time).

Nononono, Time travelling Rey is her own mother (maybe with Ben Solo as the father each time).    That explains the weird infinite mirror sequence that otherwise did absolutely nothing for the story.

It also explains  her amazing power -- she's building up her "genetic midicholrians" in an infinite loop until she's powerful  enough to stop time itself.   Oh, and "bring balance to the universe" whatever that means.

See, I can write plots to Star Wars movies too.    :P

Perhaps (see last short story)?  Writing is a bit derivative (and's not Lovecraft himself), but nevertheless...

Aircraft Carriers?  Not fulfilled in changes I assume.

(from an old post of mine):

Quote
So there are a number of references to something epic that will happen during the last books, and I thought it might be worth trying to put it together.

1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MT_zmg3T94

Zip ahead to 47:55, for a question about if the mortal world is waking up to the existence of magic. Jim gives a long answer culminating in 49:20 with "by the end of this we're going to be talking Kaiju and Jaeger epic". The connection to the question (about mortal involvement) makes it seems like military-level intervention.

1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NEHTk0gVaQ

At the 32:10 minute mark he says: "My big trilogy, we're going to have to get the navy involved in the end". He goes to say "you think I'm being nice. Joke's on you", implying I assume a horrible fate for some of those sailors.

3) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyAKU7sNWYI

At the 25:28 mark, someone asks about getting ideas for a book. Jim answers at length with an anecdote at 27:05 about how Dead Beat/PG got switched up because of the coolness of "Zombie T-rex". Then at the 27:35 mark he says "That's one of the fun things about writing a scene that you've been waiting a long long to write. There's one with an aircraft carrier that I don't get to write for another 7-8 years, and I've been lusting after it for the past 10. "

4) There's another one from the Beavercreek sigining if you care. The audio is broken up so you only hear the last part of the answer (and then a reference to the question). It's right at the beginning of the video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTh8rAl5i_g

I think there's another video or two, but I don't see it in my notes. In any case, what you can put together from these references is that apparently mortal awareness of the supernatural increases until the USN decides to send a naval taskforce (since I don't see a single aircraft carrier operating alone) to deal with some Kaiju issue. Since this is a Harry-viewpoint story, I assume he will be on said carrier.

Given the Lovecraftian nature of the Outsiders (and the "FTHAGN" quote in from Skin Game), my guess for the opponent in this story would be something on the order of this guy:

http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/11122/111223357/4534280-2651625309-cthul.jpg

All in all, it has the potential to be a truely epic Crowning Moment of Awesome.

5) So what could be the Jaeger part?  Well, we've seen Bob animate both a zombie trex and a stone lion.  In the first case, Harry used necromancy to empower the zombie, but in the second, it seems Bob did it all on his own.  Presumably there is some sort of size restriction, perhaps limited by the amount of power you can bring to bear.  Personally, I was hoping that Butters would use the power source of his lightsaber to build gadgets (turning him from Batman into Green Lantern), but perhaps Harry could empower a huge golem that Bob (or Bonnie, or even evil-bob) could inhabit.

6) Remember that WoJ about putting things into the first book that will eventually be used, well what about using lightning to cast a spell?  We've never really gone back to that one (except I believe for Elaine being able to charge her equivalent of Harry's shield bracelet by plugging it in -- need to find reference for that).  In any case, one thing that an aircraft carrier typically has is a stable nuclear engine -- you know, one of those things that has enough power to let it go around the word a zillion times without refueling.   So----   Harry uses (up?) the fuel in the nuclear engine to empower a body that Bob inhabits and it goes off to fight Cthulhu.

7) ...maybe a bit a soul fire to for "powers of creation" in there, etc.

8) Finally, consider how the power of mass faith is so big that even the fake shroud has big mojo.   Then consider the Statue of Liberty.   It's probably got enough power stored in it to do something cool.   It might be a bit ghostbusters-2, but if Bob (or Bonnie) animated the Statue of Liberty, that could very well fulfill the "Jaeger" part.

TL;DR -- Bob is going to animate the Statue of Liberty and punch Cthulhu on the nose.

As to Sandra Marling ... I just don't see her as a bad guy.  Not sure why other do.

RE: Sandra, there's also something in the DFRPG about her (on how she disappeared after PG mysteriously IIRC).

I've long thought that Mouse is eventually destined to be the one to end Anduriel (as much as this is possible for a Fallen), and Anduriel is aware of this.

Kemmler probably found good sponsors Bob.

More ominous this way.     ;)

My thought has long been that Lily wasn't smart enough to come up with that plan (as it essentially involved outsmarting Mab), and that it was actually Nemesis' idea all along to get Harry to AT.   As for the super-Fetch, remember that it deliberately hid behind the Wellspring (which is why Harry tried shooting through it).   Coincidence or Nemfection?

We've seen that Cat Sith can get nemfected, why not Eldest Fetch?   As evidence, I'd like to point out an interesting weirdness:   Earlier, when Harry/Thomas are trying to get away from the Scarecrow, he causes it to slip on ice.   On the face of it, this is a little implausible.  After all, we've seen (Cold Days) that even the Winter Knight has no problem running on ice, and this is a power being from deepest Winter.

To me this is circumstantial evidence that Scarecrow may have been infected and therefore doing Nemesis' bidding all along.  As such, Maeve's plan to get Harry to
the Wellspring and hit it becomes slightly less implausible.

Hero decides to do decoy mission guarding the "king" while the real king sneaks out the back, but it goes wrong and king gets killed.   Turns out that King's trusted companion was a traitor who leaked the details.

I like reading SK from Rashid's POV:

1) Harry eventually deduces that only one of the Ladies could have done it.   Rashid must have known this from the start.
2) Rashid also probably knew the full implications of Summer/Winter war just by asking Harry for today's date.
3) As Gatekeeper, I am sure that he is constantly vigilant for Nemesis gambits.
4) He claims to be unsure of Harry until TC, and yet Mab made Harry emissary -- very interesting.

DF Spoilers / Re: Blackstaff and the Hat
« on: October 04, 2017, 06:51:35 PM »
Seriously?

This is from Shecky (one of the betas) when he was cosplaying Ebenezer seven years ago:

Quote from: shecky
Be sure you get old-school overalls, not something fancy and trendy; Ebenezar uses his clothes to work in. I don't remember where, but he was also described once with a white t-shirt, which will help with the Atlanta weather. Finally, he also wears spectacles—it's only mentioned in TC, but some fake wire-rims wouldn't hurt.

When I went to NYCC 2 years ago as Ebenezar, I used black latex to show the "infection" on his hand from the Blackstaff (which, oddly, only has the descriptions of "dark" and "twisted"). It was a fun little bit to add.

FWIW, I was a bit leery of shaving my head, so out of pique and a "what the hell" attitude, I sent a question to Jim about whether Eb wears a hat. He was MOST emphatic ("You bet he has a hat"); turns out he has a black leather OOOOOLD-style hat. Listens-to-Wind gave it to him at the end of their very long feud (Jim said the details are really horrible). LtW had taken it from the last surviving paleface from the group that killed his family, so yeah, it was an ugly thing all around. Anyway, this is the hat that I got and Jim approved fully:

There's a picture of said hat here:

Note that there is a WoJ about the hat.

Apparently LTW gave it to Ebenezer -- he took it off the head of the last paleface he killed for wiping out his village.

DF Spoilers / Re: Drama for Mister?
« on: October 04, 2017, 11:38:55 AM »
Mister being behind everything that happens in the Dresdenverse is one of those deeply buried WAGs.   That said, there are a number of clues that hint at something more:

1) The aforementioned WoJ:    "We haven't really run into anything that could kill Mister at this point." (spoken after Small Favor so includes a number of nasties).

2) When Harry looks at things with his Sight, everything gets colored -- even pure vanilla Murphy (GP) and "the city of Chicago" (TC) show various hues of colors as energies.   The only time Harry describes seeing something exactly the same while looking at it under the Sight is Mister.

3) Of the three beings who have used Little Chicago onscreen (Harry, Bob, Mister), two of them profess to not know who fixed the model.   Occam's Razor leaves the obvious candidate.

4) Before Harry gets Mouse, there are a number of incidents where Mister "coincidentally" saves the day (e.g. he breaks up the first Harry/Susan kiss in Death Masks where Harry was about to fall under the narcotic spell).   Afterwards, Mister just lets his minion (Mouse) deal with those issues.

5) The obvious deference that Mouse and the Za-guard (and Ivy?) show Mister.

--->  Clearly, Mister is more than meets the eye.    ;D ;D
