Yeah, we did the discussion episode that night after getting back from the signing. We do post-production this week and then release it next Monday. :D

Hi Rob,

Were you there with Quasi-Spike?  (Sorry, we didn't know your names.)  I think I noticed your shirt.

Ah, well, there is always the next signing...

I'm not sure what a Quasi-Spike is... but, here's us (I'm the guy on the Right with the Watchmen hoodie)

Oh man, I'm wicked jealous.

No exploding heads, unfortunately.

When we went up in line I told him we did a podcast and asked if I could got a little intro blurb from him. Then I mentioned we planned on doing an all Dresden discussion episode that night and he told me to get my recorder back out. He gave us the first line of the next book, signed out stuff, let us get a picture taken with him, then we were on our way back to Springfield.

Yeah, I had a friend who refused to take the trip up so I called him to rub it in his face. What a great friend I am. Haha :D

I know I don't post much, but I figured I'd drop in a little plug. On our next podcast we have a little audio clip of Jim that we acquired at this signing. That episode is all about the Dresden Files and we'll have a contest to win an autographed copy of Welcome to the Jungle. Its Dresden-tastic.

Anyway, that episode released next Monday but for this week we cooked up a little teaser trailer to hint at some of the goodness next week:

By the way, the signing was awesome. :D

I whole heartily agree. Priscilla is an excellent host and the only critique I have is the speaking pace and I'm only critiquing that because I disagree with other listeners on the issue.

But seriously, keep up the great work! :D

You're absolutely right about the "alien" quality of episode 2.  I was fighting the pace the whole time, and the end result still makes me cringe a bit.  I think I found a happy medium in episode 3, however.  I'd be very interested to hear what you think about this version!

I've listened to Episode 3 and thats what reminded me to give my feedback. I think its better, but still unnatural sounding. Its hard to find the right pacing though. I record a podcast myself and constantly have to remind myself to not slur, or mumble. I noticed when I record myself I tend to talk faster and breath less then when I'm with the group having a conversation. Maybe if you tried to pretend you were just talking with someone instead of dictating you'd find yourself talking slower naturally.

If not, just talk slow and I'll just pretend ET is reading to me. I'm an easy audience to please. :D

Alright, First I'm a long time listener of the Butcher Block, long time fan of Jim Butcher, long time lurker on the forums, short time poster on the forums. I've wanted to mention this on the last episode but I got side tracked...

I might be the only one but I'm just not a fan of the new "slowed down" version. It sounds so unnatural to me... I guess I didn't have any issue with the faster talk speed in the first place, but the speaking rhythm just sounds alien now.

I love the Butcher Block though, I'm always shocked how much information is crammed into 15 minutes of content. You're doing great work, keep it up. :D

Yeah but there's no way I can get there in time with my work schedule. I had to make special arrangements to leave early yesterday and there is no way I can pop it on them at the last minute.

I missed the book signing today...
I had to get up early, so I could get to work early, so I could leave work early, so I wouldn't be late. When my departure time from work hit I was OUT of there like a vampire from sunlight. I basically sped all the way over to my friend's apartment (since I talked him into coming with me so my drive would be less boring) and picked him up. We were about 15 miles out of Springfield when I though my car was making odd noises. I asked my friend if my car sounded funny and not five minutes later my driver's side tire blows out. I mean, big-f'n-hole-in-my-tire blows out. So, I missed my book signing. I was looking forward to getting to meet Jim all week.
I'm pretty bummed out, I just hope Jim does something locally again soon.

Well, he's a national bestselling author, and he's author of White Night.  How is this inaccurate? :D
I never said it was inaccurate, just that it amused me. Lots of things amuse me.

What, you haven't read White Night yet?  Man, did you fall for the whole "April" ruse hook, line, and sinker!  I guess I shouldn't tell you that Murphy dies...
Now aren't you going to feel bad when Murphy does get killed in the next book, all because you joked around about it too  :P

I love how it says "National Bestselling Author of White Night" despite the fact White Night isn't out yet. Hahaha

Yeah, the Sci-Fi dot bugs me. Mostly because I don't like the show.

Its ok people, Proven Guilty is out in paper back. (and it has a blurb from White Night!!!!)
