Did Molly teleport

--- Quote from: LostInTime on February 16, 2024, 08:50:14 PM --- ... The thing is, if Molly had opened a way to the Never Never, it would have been visible and Harry's seen plenty of those. But because he didn't see her disappear here and reappear there, he never put two and two together to realize that it was a teleport. (Our hero is not all that bright.)

The other thing is, Faeries are tricksy AF.  They glamour stuff more-readily than Harry uses fire and force.

Molly could have opened a Way, and hidden that behind a glamour.

We often see Harry get his youth & inexperience rubbed in his face around the opening of Ways.  In the theater, Lily opened a Way and Harry didn't even realize it at first.  People have made "custom" Ways, e.g. the Way Home from Chichén Itzá, and the closet to Chicago from the WK-quarters in Arctis Tor.  Harry expresses amazement at these things; unreliable-narrator Harry is extra-unreliable about Ways, because his understanding of them is incomplete.

that's just straight up limiting what a way is and how it works quite frankly.
Harry literally monologues on him making this mistake on his own understanding of how complex making waypaths is to drive home the point. A way is not simply a tear in the air.
Remember they're making the way to get through the veil, the sheer lining between reality. A veil is something that you can usually step right through..
Case in point Mab, Maeve, ect appearing with very little disturbance besides extra cold. Either from Maeve being lazy or Mab simply existing.
What we're seeing is just the flavor of the way maker.

What underscores how complex the Ways are, when Lea gives Harry the jewel that Margaret had had, she warns Harry that his mother had trouble sleeping while she had the jewel.

The jewel extracts a price; the details are different for everyone.  Getting a good night's sleep was the price Maggie Sr. had to pay.

AFAIK, we haven't yet learned what price Harry is paying.

I presume Jim is rubbing his hands and cackling an Evil Villain(tm) cackle.

Conspiracy Theorist:
Interesting could the jewel be used as a focus to create a new way? In The Law Harry isn’t sleeping and is meditating a lot. I have previously posited that he was seeking to create a way from The Castle to the Winter Knights Apartment in Arctis Tor, and was the reason he had invited the Za Guard to stay. If so the jewel would be Checkov’s gun, aside from Changes it has been hideously underused. You imagine a new route within the jewel and it eventually snaps into place outside the jewel depending on the degree of congruency between to the two points and the amount of mental effort and magic over time applied to make it so.

Margaret could have created several short-cuts this way, and it might explain how she was able to escape Raith.
