If it's set in Chicago Between, I might go look this one up. 

Honestly, though, I'm sure it's just a coincidence. There's been tons of movies, shows, and other forms of media that use the popular name "Murphy’s Law," and Jack is a typical nickname for this type of rough-around-the-edges hero role.

Besides, his name's really Collin.

Actually the OP is wrong.  The TV character of the UK show is named Tommy Murphy.  There was a low budget movie called Murphy's Law; it came out in 1986 and starred Charles Bronson, and the main character was named Jack Murphy.  Unfortunately, it didn't take place in Chicago.  Jack Murphy was a tough LA cop whose personal life was already going downhill only to see things get astronomically worse when he is framed for murdering his wife and a couple of other people.  It's sort of a cross between The Fugitive and The Defiant One's; Murphy is handcuffed to another prisoner when he escapes, but isn't nearly as good as either of those two movies.  Bronson's tag line in the movie was, "The only law I know is Jack Murphy's Law. That's very simple. Don't f*** with Jack Murphy. You remember that."  Not exactly a classic.

Way to try to blast me for a random posting but I never claimed I was talking about the London based series. I simplified it with the word show the same way you would "Let's go see a show" or "that was a good showing" as I had just learned of it and that was the word the old man used to describe it, thanks. Or maybe i'm just reading too much into someone wanting to tell say i'm wrong. Ye gads don't randomly post about something your not sure about cause somene gave you a burned copy to watch or someone might say your wrong, Based on one word, to the detrimen8t of the entire posting. I'll keep myself, to myself in the future I think. (Oh an considering it came out in 86, right around when Jim would have been watching innane Movies like this one, still seems pertinent under the original premise)
