Cowl theory Dead Beat -onward spoilers
Rasins:
I like it, Jonas.
To give it further credence ...
(click to show/hide)Perhaps Wizard Montjoy was one of Simon's crew. He was on Sabattical in the Yucatan when the war broke out. We know that is Rampire stomping grounds, so maybe he was turned, and betrayed Simon, who was turned.
As to why he is nemfecting folks ... maybe because he's a rampire now. Aren't LOONs outsiders? Wouldn't their presence indicate an Outsider influence on the Rampire king. Thus setting up Cowl to deliver a Nemfecting knife to Bianca to give to Leah.

Nah, "Lords of the Outer Night" was just the name for the upper tier vampires of the Red Court, the Red king and his immediate cadre. (click to show/hide)They were mentioned in GP and we long thought bianca might have been referencing an alliance with Outsiders or something, but Changes confirmed that it was just the name for the Red Court leadership, who liked to adopt the trappings of the Mayan pantheon.
As far as the Nemfection, that's the question: (click to show/hide)Simon died in SK long after the war broke out, but Cowl was already working with the Rampires to cause the War in the first place (and simultaneously Nemfect folks). So if Simon=Cowl, he either was turned before the War and hid it for a bit, or he was already traitor before he was theoretically turned in SK and was just so mentally powerful that he was able to retain his own self-control (but was still anti-WC). Or a Door #3 that Im not yet seeing.
Rasins:
I go with the latter. Already turned.
And wasn't some of what Genosa's first wife (I forget her name) in Blood Rites about the Lords of Outer Night while she was calling HWWB?

Nah, that was Lord of Slowest Terror, and by context sounds like HWWBh's Boss.

--- Quote from: BR ---and they shifted from that other tongue into English. "While here we wait, O hunter of the shadows! We who yearn for your shadow to fall upon our enemy! We who cry out in need for thy strength, O Lord of Slowest Terror! May your right arm come to us! Send unto us your captain of destruction! Mastercraftsman of death! Let now our need become the traveler's road, the vessel for He Who Walks Behind!"
