Request A Character
PirateJack:
Here's my take on Alex Armstrong, aka the Strong Arm Alchemist. I think I did quite well, though I think an FMA setting would get rid of Lore as a skill and just use Scholarship instead. That'd make for characters that don't have to spend 2/3 refresh on stunts moving trappings around. Armstrong could have done with maybe an Empathy or Rapport stunt, probably a Might one too.

High Concept: The Strong Arm Alchemist
Trouble Aspect: Haunted by Ishval
Other Aspects:
PASSED DOWN THROUGH THE ARMSTRONG FAMILY FOR GENERATIONS
Friendship Through Flexing
Manly Tears and Manly Hugs
Diplomacy Before Violence
Protect the Innocent
Skills:
Superb: Fists
Great: Endurance, Might
Good: Alertness, Empathy, Rapport
Fair: Craftsmanship, Intimidation, Investigation, Scholarship
Average: Contacts, Deceit, Driving, Presence, Stealth
Stunts:
THIS ALCHEMY HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN THE ARMSTRONG LINE FOR GENERATIONS - For identification and research purposes, gain +1 on any Scholarship rolls related to Alchemy and an additional +1 in relation to Strong Arm Alchemy.
Obfuscating Machismo - Armstrong is a surprisingly perceptive person considering his size and demeanour, able to spot inconsistencies where others would not. Gain +2 to the Passive Alertness trapping of Alertness.
Flexing Is Friendship - When you would roll Rapport to establish first impressions, rip off your shirt and roll Might instead.
Powers:
Channelling (Strong Arm Alchemy) [-2]
Ritual (Alchemy) [-2]
Refinement (Focus Items +2) [-1]
Alternate Magical Paradigm (Might, Fists, Scholarship) [-1]
Focus Items:
Metal Gauntlets - +2 Offensive/Defensive Alchemy Power
Total Refresh Cost:

Refresh Total:

Praise be to Sanctaphrax for helping me remember the Alternate Magical Paradigm.
Sanctaphrax:
Good stuff. Although if I were you, I'd replace the skill-swap stunts with Alternate Magical Paradigm. Not like it'd be overpowered. And Obfuscating Machismo seems weak compared to Corner of My Eye.
Now here's Link.
(click to show/hide)Link (Submerged)
Giving him the ability to hide objects in a magical other-space is a bit meta, but I feel like he's not really Link unless he's carrying around a truck-load of magic stuff that's completely invisible while he's not using it.
I'm pretty sure Link not talking is just a genre thing, but I like the idea that he's actually mute.
High Concept: The Hero Of Courage
Trouble Aspect: Destined To Fight Evil
Other Aspects: Mute, Orphan, No Actual Personality
Skills:
Superb: Weapons
Great: Athletics, Survival, Discipline
Good: Endurance, Conviction, Might
Fair: Fists, Lore, Alertness
Average: Presence, Investigation, Stealth
Stunts:
Bows Are Weapons (Weapons): Wield bows with Weapons.
Powers:
Expanded Magical Compartment [-2]
Limitation (Must have appropriate gear on hand) [+2]
Variable Abilities (6 form points) [-8]
Total Refresh Cost:
-9
Refresh Total:

What's in his variable abilities list depends on which game he's from, but likely options include:
[-3] The Master Sword (True Aim, Holy Touch, +2 weapon rating)
[-3] Mirror Shield (Use Weapons to defend against ranged attacks, +2 to defend against ranged attacks, upon successful defence against a ranged attack may sacrifice next action to make automatically successful attack with that attack's weapon rating)
[-3] Hookshot (+2 to Athletics whenever a grappling hook seems useful, use weapons +2 to maneuver with grappling hook, upon a successful maneuver against someone or something within three zones may sacrifice next action to move to their zone)
[-3] Bombs (As grenades with +2 weapon rating, may use Weapons instead of Craftsmanship for demolitions, may set delayed attacks to hit a zone in up to three exchanges)
If he takes one ability from an item, he needs to take every ability from that item. Items generally cost 3, so he can use two at once.
PS: Edited the request list to add the Emissary of the Monkey King, which I missed on my first pass through the thread.
PirateJack:
Edited with AMP and a new stunt, which I find particularly amusing.
Sanctaphrax:
That's great. Seriously, it's the most Armstrong thing I've ever seen.
Sometimes a single stunt can really encapsulate a whole character, you know?
Anyway, here's Yujiro Hanma.
(click to show/hide)Yujiro Hanma (Deep One)
Flavourwise, Yujiro is a pure mortal. But the Dresdenverse, unlike the Bakiverse, doesn't let people punch earthquakes into submission through sheer manliness. So he gets Powers.
Not sure about those Aspects. If anyone else here is a Baki fan, input would be great.
Not sure whether I should keep using Stoicism with the Paranet Papers out...but Mental Toughness is clearly aimed at spellcasters. Stoicism seems more suitable for a martial artist.
Apart from that I'm quite happy with these stats. Some fun stuff in the stunts.
