Whatever happened to the [glow] tag?
« on: May 16, 2007, 08:24:25 PM »
This used to work fine:
You mean like this?

That used to be 24point text, glowing red.

What happened? The manual here says it should still work.

It was a garish eyesore.  I turned it off.

I'm rather glad you did. Everytime I saw it, I had a nightmare vision of the day the fangurlz find this board and over-run it with squee-over-Paul-Blackthorne/Terence Mann-posts. Kidz like this tend to have fetishes for any and everything to make their posts look more TEH SPESHUL, up to and including over-use of font colors/glow tags/and especially that tag that makes your typing sparkle like glitter.

I hear you.  I turned off most of the "extraneous" tags that I didn't think were offering much in the way of real value.  I even contemplated ditching the color tag or figuring out how to lock it down as admin-only, but that latter bit proved too hard, so I decided for the moment that so long as folks use it judiciously it's not all bad. :)

Could you turn the size tag back on as well?

No. :)

I can get behind that.  I can see someone being obnoxious and posting a rather fowl message in 100 pitch font.  It would be just mildly annoying.
Patience is a virtue, patience is a virtue, PATIENCE IS A F***ING VIRTUE.  There, now I might be able to follow it.

Mm, idiots on the Matrix Online forums like to do that and it gets really maddening.
