Now, now everyone, Don is responsible enough to handle a weapon. This is a learning experience for all of us. Don learns how to safely use a sword, through trial and error, and the rest of us...will learn to duck at proper times

An ear of corn is much better than a rod anyways.  I mean, from a purely hypothetical stance, if, say, a bright green fennec buried your rod, it would probably just keep anything else from growing there.  But that same fox could bury the corn and then a year or two later you've got life everywhere!  Seeds have ssssooo much potential and an ear of corn has ssssooo many seeds, so it's way better than that hideous rod, which belongs in a hole in the ground anyways!
