shields aren't perfect

they are tuned to allow thru soem energies but not others( can't fight if you can't see)- as a photon torpedo is a gallon of anit matter iron going .9 c, when it hits it makes a very big broad specturm boom. shields take up most of it, but some gets thru.

star trek- where the technichal advisors are so dang geeky they make it all work before hand :)

kind of like Jim and magic

any other tech questions?

I was thiking more along the lines of making fun of the camera-action.  But still, you can offer explanations for anything.  Doesn't make you immune to being made fun of ;D
