Backstory:

Long ago, Loki made a daring attempt to escape his eternal prison. His method was to peel off his own face as part of a magical ritual designed to create a powerful creature called The Mask Of Loki that would free him from his torment.

The ritual worked, but unfortunately for Loki his creation showed no interest in freeing him. It took the considerable fragment of divine power that Loki had given it and ran.

The Mask had no real desires of its own, so it takes those of others. It's normal method is to possess a random passerby and then spend about a year fulfilling all of that passerby's most secret desires and most random impulses.

Fortunately for the world, the Knights Of The Cross put a stop to that about 500 years ago. They cut it to pieces and scattered the pieces across the world.

Unfortunately for the world, The Mask seems to have recovered. Or perhaps been recreated, Loki isn't known for intelligent planning.

"Sarah Brown" (Submerged)
High Concept: Fetch Changeling
Thanks for building that one. Got a far more tragic twist than what i thought off when i post my request but i like the idea.
It could serve very well as a character to show the other characters the cruelty of winter, the "Between the worlds" issues of changelings and that not everyone initially appearing evil has to be so. (Or the other way around if they first meet Sarah Brown)
Poor girl, though.

Backstories:

Calvin Davenport was an ordinary poor kid, once. Because he was small and weak and had a big mouth, he had to be pretty sneaky just to get by. But that wasn't a problem for him.

Calvin's problem was that he kept talking back to his teachers at school. He was fairly intelligent and not yet a violent person, but he was so annoying that he ended up expelled multiple times from various schools. He simply would not shut up.

So Calvin dropped out of school as soon as he could get away from his parents. Living on his own, he soon turned to crime to make ends meet. It was during his time as a petty criminal that Calvin acquired his deep and abiding respect for guns. To him, a gun was the purest and most useful form of power.

This fascination with firearms lead Calvin into the mafia. He became a hitman for them, and did his job very well. But he couldn't deal with the fact that in the mafia there were people who had authority over him. After he mouthed off to them one too many times, they had him shot and tossed into a river.

While Calvin lay dead in that river, Death appeared to him. Death, apparently, had need of someone like Calvin. Someone who could discreetly kill the things that Death needed dead. Death offered Calvin a job and Calvin accepted before Death had time to finish his sentence.

Calvin came back to life with a rifle in his hand and magic in his blood. It took him about a week to completely exterminate the mafia he had once worked for. Once that was done, Calvin began a new life as Death's hitman.

Calvin's been doing his job for a couple of years now, and he's enjoyed it the whole time. Death's authority is usually so distant that Calvin doesn't even notice it. But sometimes Calvin feels the heavy hand of Death on his shoulder. And when he does, he always wonders what would happen if he were to turn his all-killing rifle on the one who gave it to him.

Julio Toller's mother was a powerful wizard and one of the best oracles on the Council. She took her son as her apprentice and taught him a great deal. This went well for a while, but it completely fell apart on the autumn equinox of Julio's 15th year.

On that day, Julio's mother was attempting a highly ambitious divination spell that would, in theory, allow her to see the precise location and bearer of every Blackened Denarius on the planet using a single Denarius as a symbolic link. The spell represented a solid two years of work for her, and it really should have worked.

But Julio messed it all up. He begged his mother to let him help her with the casting of the ritual, and after she finally agreed he botched the spell four-fifths of the way through. The resulting fallout killed his mother and everyone else within approximately five kilometers, except for Julio. He survived because his mother spent her Death Curse shielding him.

Everyone Julio had ever known was dead, and it was his fault. The resulting trauma caused him to lose most of his spellcasting powers.

For about a decade after that, Julio was a broken shell of a man. But then a friend of his mother's ran into him at a bar, and recognized him. His mother's friend more or less knew the story already, thanks to his own divinations, and he had once been quite angry at Julio for his incompetence. But ten years does a lot to dampen emotions, and eventually anger turned to pity.

Julio's mother's friend set Julio up with a clued-in therapist who helped Julio past most of his issues. Julio left therapy functional, but feeling as though he had a huge debt to repay to society for his sins.

In the end, Julio chose to repay society by enforcing its laws. He became a martial artist and trained with single-minded focus. He reawakened his spellcasting as best he could, and discovered that he could still Craft rather well even if the quick release of power was now beyond him. After about five years, Julio was essentially Batman.

But less awesome. Unlike Batman, Julio is poor and not a great detective. He has logistical difficulties up to his neck. He can fight and he can scare and he has amazing gadgets, but he's nonetheless found that fighting evil is really bloody hard. Most nights he just sits around in alleys hoping for a mugging.

Still, he's been successful enough to become a local cult figure. And he's actually dealt with a fair number of criminals and monsters.

PS: Edited Julio's sheet a bit to add a couple of aspects, fix a typo or two, and to add Wizard's Constitution.

Esmeralda Galloway is the heir to the powerful Galloway family. Like her father, her mother, both of her grandfathers, both of her grandmothers, etc, Esmeralda is a Wizard Of The White Council. She's a Warden, too, which is only fitting. She has a small trust fund and plenty of magical power. Every advantage has been given to her.

Her life should be easy. It's not. Here's why:

Esmeralda was always a tomboy. When she was young, she wanted to be a knight. Her parents approved, thinking she'd make a good Warden. And so when she was 16 years old, they sent her to be trained by Luccio.

At the Warden training camp, Esmeralda made some very good friends. The closest of her new friends were the ones playing in the role-playing games she GM'd. Even after training was over, that gaming group stuck together. They eventually started calling themselves the Round Table Order. This was a joke for most of them, but Esmeralda was at least partly serious about it. She was a real live knight.

This was fun and harmless until the Vampire War began. The Round Table Order was quickly forced to become a serious fighting team. Which it did quite well, until the entire Order ended up being routed by a single summoned Outsider. Esmeralda and her friends ran, but they couldn't get away.

Just when the monster caught up and all hope seemed lost, Esmeralda heard a voice. The voice of Uriel, to be precise. Uriel ordered her to turn and fight, and she did. Somehow, she won.

That experience changed Esmeralda's life. Suddenly, she had faith and purpose and a desire to change everything. She gathered up the Order and told them that it was time to do something good for the world. Nobody had the guts to gainsay her.

But even after the Vampire War and a direct visitation from an Archangel, life wasn't done messing with Esmeralda. After a couple of awkward romantic affairs, Esmeralda realized that a) she was probably attracted to women and b) she might be happier as a man.

Seeking guidance, she went to her parents. They said,

"Very minor perversions, dear. It's all fine by us, as long as you give us some grandkids.

Oh, and your uncle can probably teach you how to change your gender. He's a pretty accomplished shapechanger, you know."

This really pissed her off. An angry rejection would have been better than this casual dismissal. More-or-less just to spite them, she decided to become involved in the gay rights movement. They couldn't understand this decision, being as they were accustomed to totally ignoring mortal law. Which was by way of being the point.

Now Esmeralda has waaaay too much on her plate. She has a vaguely-defined mission from God to lead her Order on, a war to fight, and a form of equality to fight for. If this keeps up, she'll probably burn out.

Crazy ideas of Silverblaze:

1.Werecoyote Mechanic (based on a novel)
2. red court infected/white court virgin - trying to avoid falling either way.
3. somesort of abomination White Wolf style (Underworld for those who haven't played White Wolf WoD -basically a Vampire Werewolf.
4. Descendent of Judas trying to uncurse his line, sort of a denarian trying to attain redemption by fighting denarians and fleeing Knights of the Cross.
5. Wereskunk bodyguard (played this) was fun, still is.
6. I think master Chief from Halo fame or Dante from Devil May Cry may be intersting to see stated, but not to play.
7. mage who gets sponsored magic from magical parasites within own body...sponsor debt is handled like a hunger track for vampires.  Uses blood magic primarily, and blood flavored evocation (instead of water...blood...flame = boiling blood bolts and such.
8. Winter Werewolf...with cold based breath weapon
9. something like a gorgon (medusae)

Sentient golem, any type...flesh (frankenstein), stone, metal (any ) though iron or steel would be awesome...can you say catch for all fae?

Gargoyle, roosts on churches, might have holy powers...turns to stone during the day..still stone at night, but is now animate...could alternatlively be scaled and flesh/bone. Maybe human by say instead.

Ogreball ball:

Greater Pangolin (Feet In The Water)

High Concept: Supernaturally-Powered Pangolin
Trouble Aspect: Ogreball Ball
Other Aspects: Tough And Spiny, Truly Dumb, Curl Up
Skills:
Great: Endurance
Good: Survival, Athletics
Fair: Might, Fists, Alertness
Average: Conviction, Discipline, Investigation, Stealth
Stunts:
Shrug It Off (Endurance): Use Endurance for physical defense.
Curl Up (Endurance): Full defense actions provide +4 defense instead of +2.
Armoured Hide (Endurance): +1 physical armour while making full defense actions.
Powers:
Echoes Of The Beast (Pangolin) [-1]
Damage Shield [-2] (Attackers who miss with unarmed attacks take margin of failure as stress)
Supernatural Toughness [-4]
The Catch (unknown) [+0]
Total Refresh Cost:
-10
Refresh Total:
-4

I'm pretty happy with the Greater Pangolin, because its stats encourage it to act in an interesting, unusual, and thematically appropriate way.

You've created an NPC who does nothing, and does it with incredible finesse, which was my vision for it in the first place. I'd give it a metric crapload of armor that only gives its full value when it's curled up. But you've managed to get similar results with what you've got, so it's not like you did it wrong. Thanks.

I had an idea for a team of 5 PC's who each have a ring that grants them channeling corresponding to the elements fire, water, earth, air, and spirit. They are otherwise mortal. And when they combined their powers they can kind of summon some sort of representation of earth's power.

Pretty easy honestly.  The rings would basically just need channeling (element a,b,c,d,e) and ritual (summoning).  Then create a superman type guy who has a kryptonite in the form of pollution, that they summon.  Technically since you have 3 casters working on the same ritual it can be done faster and more succesfully.
