I called B&N and they confirmed books needed to be purchased at B&N...

We HAVE to in order to attend the signing. Works for me.

*may not be coherent thought* Anyone checked to see if there are tickets, or anything, that people have to get to ...lost it.

Priority seating will be given to those who buy the book from Barnes and Noble or BN.com, which translates to priority in the signing line.  Seeing as how Jim was signing FIVE HOURS at last night's release party, priority in the signing line is going to be pretty important.  Plus, the venue is very small, so they may end up ceding the entire seating area to folks who bought the book from B&N.

I'll be there!  I'm really super excited to meet everyone. (This is sherlockbones aka Melissa from Twitter, by the way).

Seeing as I've only ever been to NYC once, I plan on taking the entire day off of work and getting into the city around 9am or so and then just wandering around.  If there happens to be a plan to meet up early for lunch or anything, please let me know, as I would be most happy to join.

Debating now if I can throw together a quick costume.  I'll be at a convention all weekend, starting tomorrow afternoon, so I don't have much time to plan.

Egon: Peter, do you know how to set your proton pack on explosive overload?
Peter: No.
Egon: I do.

Yup, the event manager did confirm that a B&N receipt for GS would suffice for eligibility for priority seating.

If the crowd is large enough, I may scalp my seat. :D

Okay, I called both the store here in VA and the store in NYC to compare stories.  VA said any B&N or BN.com receipt will get you a wristband.  The guy at the NY store said that if you buy the book at the store, you get a wristband (as supplies last).  You CAN bring in a receipt from another B&N and get a wristband, but those buying the book at the location get priority, so there may not be wristbands left.

Basically, show up as early as you can to get a wristband, whether your receipt is from the NY B&N, another B&N, or BN.com.

See, and today, Nick at the B & N Tribeca said to me on the phone:  "Only books bought here on the DAY OF THE EVENT will be honored with a wrist band."

*SIGH*

Well at least I have my costume finished!   ;)

These changing tunes are really harshing on my love for B&N.  I'm happy to support the store, but... pick a story and stick with it, people.

You know, I'm usually of the sort who says, "Support your bookstore when it hosts events, so they'll be repaid and be more likely to do that kind of thing in the future." I was planning to buy a copy there to do just that. But this is making me reconsider my usual approach.

From Jim's publicist, the Final Story:

The first 200 customers to buy GHOST STORY at the store get guaranteed seating, all others are standing room. Passes handed out at 10am.
