Er, I have to disagree. He had lost both his parents by that time, and that counts for more than 1% of what he is now. Of course, he wasn't a wizard yet (but he had a fairy godmother). That is the part of the story that I'm dying to know. Who took care of newly born Harry until his father arrives? Hospital crew? Or he was born in a lonely place, only with Lea asisting Maggie? And then, when did Harry find about Lea? And Changes spoiler: (click to show/hide)Did Eb did something for him, or watched over him or something? I mean while he was on orphanage. Why didn't Eb took Harry with him? And has Thomas ever found about him when Harry was a child and Thomas a new vampire?

I should've been more clear. Yes, the loss of both parents had a PROFOUND impact on Harry--I'm not trying to downplay that. I'm referring to the character traits that make Harry distinctive as a fictional character. His gallery of friends and foes, his style of magic, his dark past with Justin, his tumultuous relationship with the White Council... even his look. There would be very few of the qualities and quirks that endear us to present-Harry in his eight-year-old self. He'd be barely recognizable.
The comment wasn't meant to provoke a serious discussion, though! Assign whatever percentage feels right to you. :D

I love this place so much.
And, while Li'l Harry wouldn't be Harry, I have to admit that reading about a precocious 8 year old snarking off to authority and trashing baby chlorofiends with his wits instead of with magic would be vastly amusing.
Also, I NEED to have Thomas in one of the later books described as wearing an irridescent sparkly tracksuit.
*happy sigh* That was even more fun than Gmail Motion. :D
