On the matter of ghouls, I believe there are a few different clans depending on who started their line. The most probable culprit is Ereshkigal, the sumerian deity of the Underworld.

Yeah, Ghouls seem a lot more like creatures of Erishkigal than they sound like Enkidou. Enkidou was a wild-man, not a blood thirsty monster hungry for human flesh.
