Jim and Pat Rothfuss Guest Blog at Borders' Babel Clash
« on: March 23, 2011, 02:48:18 PM »
For the week of March 29th through April 4th, Jim Butcher and the esteemed Pat Rothfuss (The Name of the Wind, The Wise Man's Fear, The Princess and Mr. Whiffle) will be guest blogging together at Borders' Babel Clash.

Historically, writers talk about writing, their books, story concepts, and the like.  Jim and Pat are both big fans of each other's work, so I look forward to a blend of intriguing discussion and shameless fangeekery. :D

saw they had old discussions there too, for example Brandon Sanderson and Brent Weeks.
Well what I found cool was that Brandon Sanderson mention Jim and Codex alera in the discussion  :D

It's a conspiracy!  Sanderson mentioned Rothfuss in his blog, too.  :o

Not to mention the Sanderson/Rothfuss interview on Amazon where they both referenced Jim. :D  http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000661941

Oh, and also of note is Pat's review of Storm Front.  It's highly amusing!  :D  http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/81958622

I never got around to reading these books until The Name of the Wind was published. And when I first did, I was a little pissed. First person point of view. Magic based on thermodynamics. Gritty, realistic world. Arrogant wizard who doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut. It struck rather close to home....

Some people say that the first few books of this series were kinda rough. But I didn't notice anything particularly untoward about them. In fact, I burned through the whole series (11 books at the time) in about two weeks.

As a side note, James Marsters reads the audiobooks. And while his first one was a little rough, all the rest are very enjoyable.
