"So even though I think it's rather ridiculous for an evocation to inflict mental stress, I say in the guide that it's legal."

On the other hand, I have a PC with Channeling who uses water, expressed as emotion (in my universe, emotions are most accessable via the element of water) who uses her musical skill to frame/cast - so for practical effect she is similar to a Welsh Bard in that she could (she hasn't actually used this yet) use her music to cause stress/damage expressed via demoralization aspects onto the opponents. Granted, initially I think this would play out as a maneuver, but I could also see it doing damage (i.e. look at the examples of social conflict where folks 'leave' and have been defeated by that).

I don't object to it because I don't think it makes sense. I object to it because I think it's broken. Wizards are powerful enough without letting them ignore Athletics, Endurance, armour, Toughness powers, Speed powers, Recovery powers, and all the other things that normally make a creature/character tough.

More questions, many of which are not properly answered:

Q: Is there a way to model effects that increase a wizard's spellcasting power within the rules?
http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,23195.0.html
A: Some GMs will allow aspect invocations to increase spellcasting power the same way they do control.

Q: Can conjured items satisfy The Catch on toughness powers?
http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,23201.0.html
A: Maybe. Talk to your GM.

Q: What exactly does The Catch do?
http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,23175.0.html
A: In situations where a character is exposed to their catch, their toughness powers are negated.

Q: Some of the catches in Our World don't seem to have the value that the rules in Your Story dictate. Why?
A: Good question. Ask Evil Hat.

Q: Can you live off of conjured food and drink?
http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,23201.0.html
A: I have no idea. Talk to your GM.

Q: How do you calculate the value of catches that do not conform to the guidelines in Your Story?
A: You’re on your own. Sorry.

Q: How do you represent a familiar (animal companion) in mechanical terms?
http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,22888.0.html
A: The most popular answers are: as an aspect and as fodder for Declarations.

Q: Are Items Of Power vulnerable to hexing and normal wear and tear?
http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,23303.0.html
A: Maybe. They cannot be destroyed by such things, but some GMs may rule that they can be rendered temporarily useless.

Q: How often should milestones occur?
http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,23265.0.html
A: That depends entirely upon the needs of the story and the people playing.

Q: How do you represent dividing a potion for multiple people to drink in mechanical terms?
http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,23299.0.html
A: It is possible to sacrifice shifts of enchanted item or potion power in exchange for extra uses. Simply do so a number of times equal to the number of drinkers and have each person use the weakened potion once.

Q: Can you use a thaumaturgical ritual to extend the duration of another thaumaturgical ritual?
http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,23233.0.html
A: Maybe. Talk to your GM.

Q: How do you go about moving people with evocation?
http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,23165.0.html
A: One shift of evocation is good for one zone of movement.

Q: What do the paranthesis in some stress tracks mean?
http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,23206.0.html
A: They represent extra stress boxes granted by Toughness powers.

Q: Are the extra stress boxes from Toughness powers at the beginning of the stress track or the end?
A: The end.

Oh, I saw those stat blocks. I just wasn't sure whether the stress was applied from the left or the right.

Anyway, I've edited the answer so that it's actually useful now. Thanks for your help.

House Rules [was Re: DFRPG Player's Guide (Rough Draft)

Got a question: anyone with house rules they would like to share? I note that my world-creation was fairly aborted since most of the PC's do NOT want to know much about factions/faces - the consensus was that finding out who was what was so much of the fun that too much involvement really detracted. I don't necessarily object to this; I'm one of those GM's who overkills on NPC creation on reflex.
