Recovery Powers for spellcasters
« on: June 17, 2010, 11:50:49 PM »
I was wondering if you guys think it would be appropriate to have recovery powers for mental stress and consequences?

I see this as being primarily useful for spellcasters. I see someone like the Merlin slinging spells for a long time before tiring. If he had something like Mythic Spellcasting and could shrug off 3 mild mental consequences it would allow him to do it.

What are your thoughts about adding recovery powers for mental stress?

And a secondary question, if I create these powers and make them where they only affect self-inflicted consequences from casting, what would you rate the catch as?

The game is built and balanced around no mental recovery.

There have been some discussions about low power casting house rules.

You can also take fire-breath for being able to toss off small attacks at will.

I think the house evocation rules cover that well enough.  Personally I'd modify them so they weren't quite as powerful at submerged and higher levels, but I'd never give a PC the ability to heal mental stress and consequences on the fly.  That would seriously overpower wizards.

The logic tracks, systemically. In the canon, what we've seen is that a lot of powerful wizards seem to have sponsorship.

But the fact is, we really don't know a whole lot about them.

Thanks for the reply, Lenny! That's what I was hoping you would say :)

I'm going to be putting a few powers together.
