Are We Ready For the Flood?
« on: January 21, 2007, 03:30:23 PM »
I just thought about this...with the TV series premiering tonight, there's a chance that an awful lot of people are about to get their first taste of Harry.  If the series does half as well as we expect, this forum could see a huge jump in traffic!

I'm just curious...can the site handle it?  I half expect that I'll try to sign on after the show airs, and just won't get on!

I'm actually of two minds about this...hoping I'll be able to get here, and also hoping so many people try to do so that things don't work properly...the latter of the two would mean the show is a huge success!

Anyway, just a thought,

Keith

We'll see. I'm not too worried.

Board... loading... slowly...

Trying to take this as a good sign. ;)

I can connect again!  Thanks, iago, oh great and wonderful admin.

I was going through withdrawals!  Who will I snipe at if the board goes down? ;)

It took me half an hour to log in, and I tried for 45 minutes to post last night.  I finally gave up.  When I signed on this morning, I discovered my post DID go through.  But there were HUGE issues last night.

I had like an hour today where it took a couple of minutes per page, then about a half an hour where I couldn't get in at all.  I figured that there were a ton of people online during their lunch breaks.

I was able to post around 9:30 and 10:00 EST last night, although it was very slow connecting. Then after that last post I couldn't connect for about 2 and 1/2 hours.  It's been slow off and on today.  I think it's when people on board reach 100 or more that it clogs.
I wondered why the baseball was getting bigger. Then it hit me.

When I was attempting things last night there were about 60 people on.  And I had been online during our biggest day yet, while most of those people were online and didn't have a problem.  So I'm not sure how it was clogging.

This will most likely happen again next Sunday. Fred, do you think we will have the same difficulties as we had after the first episode?

If so, I hate to say it, but I'll be avoiding the forum Sunday evening.

Unlikely, but I wasn't around to see if there were any problems. :)

Things seemed better this week.  I didn't seem to have any issues, but I'm not sure about anyone else.

I tried right after the episode was over, it was a tad slower than usual...
