6 word stories
« on: October 26, 2006, 06:54:27 PM »
So, I saw an article on 6 word stories on slashdot.  I was reading the comments, trying to see if anyone had any good ones, and it struck me...although the authors in the Wired article managed to make 6 word stories, very few of the people responding to the article did.  I saw a lot of opening lines, and phrases, but very few "6 word stories".

What do you guys think?

Shortest story I ever read was by Larry Niven, in an anthology of his.  It was entitled "Unfinished Story #2"" I think.  The text of it, according to my best recollection, is as follows:

"There are some things Man was not meant to know."
But MAYBE Lasciel will try to tempt Harry with the prospect of redeeming HER.
Wouldn't *that* be a powerful scene?

My life is an enduring travesty.

One foot by the dark tide;
Third eye to the light
I'm seeing everything you thought
Could never be real.

Huh, I recall seeing this in Neil Gaiman's blog not too long ago.  Should have investigated it earlier now that I look at it.  Lots of these are amusing.

"If I lose the light of the sun, I will write by candlelight, moonlight, no light. If I lose paper and ink, I will write in blood on forgotten walls. I will write always. I will capture nights all over the world and bring them to you." - Henry Rollins

Amazing that swords are that sharp.

Nixon of course was an alien.

Finding lost dogs makes me grin.

The cannons made my ears bleed.

I thought of these in the last few minutes. One of these days I will actually write something.
