Tips for the Unmotivated
« on: May 07, 2008, 09:24:54 PM »
I've been asked by my station manager to do a segment on this week's radio show called "Tips for the Unmotivated" The show is geared toward writers who are in the process of either writing their book, getting it published by any means necessary, or marketing what they've got in hand.

So since I'm crunched with other last minute stuff, I'm asking for your help.  ;D What are your tips for getting motivated to write? To find that perfect agent, or publisher? Or to sell more books? You can be serious or funny, get creative!

If I choose your tip and put it on the air, I'll want to include your name and town and state, so please include that in your post (it doesn't have to be your real name, if you want to keep it private - just something so you know it's yours)

Thanks in advance everyone! I think this is going to be a lot of fun!
If you are up to no good, please do no good for me too, okay?   ;D

"When the book gets published I can yell 'HA! Eat that!'"

It puts the words on the page, or else it gets the hose again.

I have to let these people tell their stories or they will keep me up at night and interfere with other things; you do not want to be writing complex database code and realise d'Artagnan is doing the documentation, and you really do not want your characters bombarding you with advice about your love life.
Mildly OCD. Please do not troll.

"What do you mean, Lawful Silly isn't a valid alignment?"

kittensgame, Sandcastle Builder, Homestuck, Welcome to Night Vale, Civ III, lots of print genre SF, and old-school SATT gaming if I had the time.  Also Pandemic Legacy is the best game ever.

Nah, it wasn't bad, just esoteric.

Lois: It's geat they picked your theme, but isn't it a little esoteric?
Peter: Esoteric?
(Zoom in to the guys in Peter's brain)
Guy1: Could it mean sexy?
Guy2: I think it's a science term.
Guy3: Fellas, fellas! Esoteric means delicious!
(back to the real world)
Peter: Lois, "Who's the Boss" is not a food.
Brian: Swing and a miss.

I'm at an annoying point.  Half way through a story, and then an idea for a better story pops up.  :P
"Perhaps people think that I have come to cast peace upon the world. They do not know that I have come to cast conflicts upon the earth: fire, sword, war." - Jesus Christ.
