Nicodemus Venatori
« on: August 13, 2021, 09:48:57 AM »
So we know Nicodemus destroys records of himself every couple of century's which is basically the Venatores entire purpose. Nicodemus also knew a lot about the Archive to successfully lure her into a trap.

Has Nicodemus worked with the Venatore's before?

I like this idea; maybe before Nic got his coin, he was a Venatori?

It's an interesting idea. Although, it's just as easy to say he destroys his records to stay fairly anonymous.

Well we know Nicodemus has interaction with some of the other supernatural powers.

He and Kincaid have history.

Helped Mab early on in her reign before she promoted Leansidhe.

He offered to help destroy the Red Court.

Anduriel no doubt knows about the Venatori. Anduriel specialises in information as a spymaster. He'd be a valuable ally to the Venatori or a fearsome enemy.

I suppose I just can't see him joining any team where he isn't in charge...not to mention as far as we know it's the first time he tried to convert the Archive in Small Favor. Wouldn't he have tried before to gain such an incredible asset previously?

I suspect he and Kincaid's history is more to do with Drakul to be honest.

The real question is why would the Venatori work with him? They know how horrific he is.

Yeah Kincaid's history probably has to do with Drakul. The Denarians consistently referred to him as Hell Hound, but thats still just 2 steps removed from the Venatori either way.

As for why the Venatori would work with him. You're assuming the Venatori are doing it for humanitarian reasons, as Thomas explained to Bob. They just don't like the competition.

Using Nicodemus wouldn't in and of itself be abhorrent to them.

Sometimes to get a job done, you need a monster.  The only thing the Venatori would care about is Nicodemus and his dedication to defeating the Old Ones.  If the Venatori know for certain that Nicodemus/Anduriel are completely against the Old Ones, then his Intelligence, resourcefulness, and ruthlessness would be seen a valuable asset.

Mab is a monster too, but Harry is beginning to see she's a necessary monster, and the Venatori might see Nicodemus the same way.

Stole this from Reginald because it was so well put, and is true for me as well.

"I love this place. It was a beacon in the dark and I couldn't have made it through some of the most maddening years of my life without some great people here."  Thank you Griff and others who took up the torch.
