Probably rumour based on the "a few months after Brief Cases" estimate. I expect it would go up on his site as soon as anything was official.

Amazon is notorious for just putting out dates like that, I would wait for the JB site announcement.

even Amazon hasn't published a date yet.  Unless someone heard something from Jim at the con this last weekend, I'd say it's all speculation.

The website says October 25, 2018....  I'm skeptical but the fact they have it down to the day makes me wonder if they have some insider information?
Stole this from Reginald because it was so well put, and is true for me as well.

I very much doubt it. If for no other reason, books come out on Tuesdays, and 10/25 is a Thursday.

i just called penguin and asked the release date and they have nothing on the slate as of now for a release date
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body
thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a
ride!

Any date released by anyone right now regardless if it's true or false would be based on insider information.  Penguin would not tell you because no date has been officially released.

they may of been under the impression that i was a retailer asking because i had people wanting to put a deposit down on a number of books
they have given me unreleased info this way before

Skin Game came out on a Thursday, so did Cold Days.  Changes was released on a Sunday, Ghost Story a Friday, Turn Coat on a Sunday, .  Didn't feel like finding more.

Not sure where you're pulling that from.

Skin Game: May 27, 2014: Tuesday.
Cold Days: November 27, 2012: Tuesday.
Ghost Story: July 26, 2011: Tuesday.
Changes: April 6, 2010: Tuesday.
Edit (cuz you cited it): Turn Coat, April 7, 2009: Tuesday.

These are publishing conventions for the past few decades. New books and video home-releases (from major studios—indie releases are more random) come out on Tuesdays. Most video games, too.  Maybe you're looking at the audiobook release dates? Because those always come after the book is out, usually on Fridays, though there's more wiggle room, and with their rise in popularity, they're coming out closer to the initial release, sometimes at the same time.

I was at Emerald City Comic Con this weekend.  In his panel, Mr. Butcher stated he still had another six weeks of work, before he turned the manuscript over to his editors.

If I recall, he's had a bad time in the past when he had a deadline and couldn't make it, so he swore off giving a deadline. . .Right(I seem to remember him saying he'd never take an advance again. . .)?

All of which is to say, there is no release date.
