Good post Magnus. You know his explanation of weekly torture for the betas is rather a......soothing thought. ;)

Tidbits I learned during the MisCon Spires reading. I was nursing a headache and a bit of exhaustion, so most of the reading was a weird blissful blur of Jim's reading thumping to the pain and weakness pulsing throughout my body. Forgive me if its not super detailed and just explains the gist of what happens. I'm sure more elaborate versions will appear later by others.

When Jim was reading from this at Ad Astra, there's a line about the captain adjusting his goggles.  At this point Jim paused, saying:

"I'm writing steampunk...there WILL be goggles!

I am kinda hoping with the aetherilists that there is a Tesla reference.  He's one of the scary "high functioning" ones.  He's perfectly fine, until you mention pigeons. ;D
Mister will never die, because Jim has already been threatened with typhoons, hurricanes, earthquakes and smog by the betas if he tries to off Mister.

As does anything with thumbs...  8)

Even some without.  I've heard of a pet crow that was addicted to the habit, to where it even figured out how to light book-matches...

Regarding the scope of the series: Jim has a deal for 3 books, which could become 6, but he would love it to go to 9 books or so - because he's having so much fun writing it (when his teeth aren't exploding).

Just asked him this question at the signing in Scottsdale tonight. Can't wait for book 1!

Great. Now I have even longer to wait for the EPIC Fantasy EPIC with Orcs and Elves Dragons and all of that. Thanks Jim. Also looking forward to this.

Thread necromancy.

Based on a couple of the posts here, I'm curious to know if Jim has by any chance read Alan Dean Foster's Midworld.  Anyone have a guess (or actual, real knowledge) on the subject?
