So how come when I'm reading the board the page never finishes loading and it says at the bottom of the screen "transferring data from google-analytics.com?

That's Google's remote-site statistics analyzer.  There's a javascript widget at the bottom that reports in, so I can get a better understanding of how the site's being used.
