Quick grapple question

How, specifically, are you supposed to initiate a grapple?  Guide me through the steps.

Isabella and another red court vampire are facing off.

She attacks him and scores a hit, she deals 7 stress and he takes a minor consequence.

The next exchange she initiates a grapple (she must tag a consequence to start a grapple, so she tags the minor consequence she gave the guy the previous exchange).

She rolls a 2, her Might is 5 (4 without inhuman strength), and she adds another two for the consequence she tagged bringing it to 9.

He has to roll athletics versus a 9 to dodge the grapple. He fails (he rolled say, a 7).

Now he is in a grapple, the next exchange comes around and Isabella can either choose to put a temporary aspect on him as a supplemental, do physical stress to him, or just maintain the grapple. She chooses the first option, she slams his head into the concrete a few times, putting the aspect "Dazed" on him. and rolls a 6 on her grapple.

On his turn he tries to kick her off him, he rolls a 6 on his "attack" this would break the grapple, but Isabella tags the "Dazed" aspect on him to turn her 6 strength grapple into an 8 strength grapple.

First Turn: You Maneuver with Might to put an "Overpowered" Aspect on your opponent (or someone else puts an appropriate Aspect on them somehow).

Second Turn: You tag the Aspect for effect to initiate the Grapple. At that point you use the grapple rules precisely as listed, and may inflict Stress, move your opponent about, do whatever, as well as preventing the opponent from doing anything that doesn't beat your Grapple roll.

Third Turn: Again, you use the grapple rules, inflicting stress or one of the other options, and preventing them from doing anything.


And so on and so forth. On the second and subsequent turns, the victim may use appropriate skills to attempt an escape. That's it really.


Note: Koffeykid's example is correct, except that using a Consequence to get a grapple is a Tag for effect and doesn't grant the +2.

Also, it doesn't have to be a consequence--any aspect that conveys combat advantage will do.

Two further clarifications :)

When Kordeth says any aspect, that also includes relevant aspects that you've assessed on the opponent. So if you are aware they have the aspect 'lover, not a fighter' or 'built like a geek' or whatever then that can be tagged too.

Also, incase there is any confusion between KOFFEY and DMW's example, you can only take supplemental actions to inflict stress, move opponents or manoeuvre in subsequent turns, not on the initial grapple turn. So tag the aspect to grapple and then, next turn, if they are still grappled you can start putting the hurt on.
