Getting the PDFs on my iPad
« on: June 14, 2010, 04:05:02 AM »
Ok I will preface this by saying I have preordered the books and the PDFs I'm trying to acquire are mine legally, I'm not trying to rip anyone off by doing this.

When I preordered the books I was using my family's ten years plus pc which i despise with a fiery passion. Now that I have replaced my broken laptop with my sleek and shiny iPad I have come across a problem. I have the PDFs, I have an iPad, the problem is getting the two things to meet, shake hands, and hit Mac's for a beer. I've tried all the free PDF reader apps to no avail and figured I would try here before paying money for something that won't work. I seem to recall someone here posting about that they had them on their iPad but that may just be my mind playing tricks on me.

Thanks in advance for your help and here's hoping it isn't a futile task I am searching for.

Get yourself Goodreader. I think it's about 0.99 cents. Best dollar you'll spend if you have PDFs to read. Then just go into the web browser in the goodreader app and download your files from evil hat or wherever. If you got them at a brick and mortar store you can upload the files from your pc to dropbox (another app and website) and download them from there onto your iPad.

Don't think about - get Goodreader. The books are gorgeous on the iPad :)

Glad you got it worked out!

Now download dicenomicon to roll your fudge dice and maybe smart note to sketch out your zones and notes and you'll be well on your way  ;D

.99 cents? Really? I'd hate to see the bank balance after that...fractional cents is bad...why not just make it 1 cent instead? It's only .01 cents more, and banks will be much happier!  :p

Sorry, it's just one of my pet peeves...I'm an accountant, after all ^_^;;

Drag and drop pdf into tunes under iPad Applications Stanza.

If it matters I was able to get my PDFs into Goodreader by using the local sync as well.

I use Cloudreader for my IPad. It has a wireless transfer option. I likes it.

The new version of iTunes (9.2) is coming out anytime between now and next Monday (when iOS 4.0 comes out for the phones... sorry, iPads wait until close to the fall, so I hear). This will have support for iBook, which supports PDFs, I believe. It will also have the ability to sync PDFs with Stanza.

(Can't wait myself, as I want the app folders for my iPhone...)
