This is a SPOILERS OKAY zone
« on: May 25, 2006, 05:57:31 PM »
This board allows spoilers about the Codex Alera series of books.  This means that anyone reading this board reads it at their own peril.

All the same, when posting spoilers to this board, please make sure that your subject line makes it clear what you're talking about, and the fact that it contains spoilers.

On the same note, please do not put spoilers in the subject line...the main board shows the most recent topic title, so there's a possibility you could accidently spoil someone with the topic title, even though you're posting on the spoiler board.

This hasn't happened yet, this msg is a pre-emptive strike. ;)

Added April 6, 2007:
We now have a spoiler tag; use it whenever you're posting something with a small amount of spoiler content on a non-spoiler board, or if you're posting an "off-topic spoiler" for a particular spoiler board (for example, if you talk book spoilers on the TV show spoiler board, the book stuff should be inside a spoiler tag).

Spoiler tags when used properly will look like this:

(click to show/hide)

It may also be a good idea to state what the spoiler is from, so the audience knows whether they can proceed or not.

To activate the code, use the radiation symbol in the posting toolbar, or use the tags SPOILER & /SPOILER inside square brackets [].

Please make sure to "preview" your posts and make sure that the spoiler tag is working correctly.

It breaks down to this:
ON-TOPIC SPOILERS ON A SPOILER BOARD: Do not need the tag.

OFF-TOPIC SPOILERS ON A SPOILER BOARD (e.g., book spoilers in a TV spoiler forum): Need the tag.

IN-LINE SPOILERS IN A NON-SPOILER THREAD: Need the tag. Note: This supercedes the “No Spoilers at all” rule…if it’s in the tag, you’re ok. But it has to remain in the tag.

USE SPOILER TAGS. And sunscreen.
« Reply #3 on: November 28, 2007, 02:50:03 AM »
Until the first of the year, please use spoiler tags for major spoilers of Captain's Fury (past the sample chapters), even in this forum. This way, people who are still reading the book can pop in here to discuss what they've read, without worrying.

Also, and more important, remember to not post spoilers in thread titles, as they can be seen on the main board listing when that topic is the mostly recently posted-in.

Added note: Even though this is a spoiler board, some people may not have read the new book yet. Please use the spoiler tags discussing anything about the new book that isn't in a new-book-specific thread. For instance, if answering a question in a general question thread, like "Tavi's complete lack of cooking ability" with material from the new book, use the spoiler tag. Meanwhile, "Discussing the New Book, If You Haven't Read It, Keep Out. No, we really mean it" means you don't need the spoiler tag.

Just to be sure: we're past the period where we have to use spoiler tags, now, right? I assume that by the first of the year you meant Jan. 01.

As a newbie, I want to make sure that I understand the rules correctly. With the release of Princeps' Fury we should spoiler tag any major spoilers until January 1, 2009? I am assuming that the posted rules for Captain's Fury hold for Princeps' Fury.

well... Book five just came out a few weels ago, so I figure it is at least safe to start complaining about when we will get the sample chapters and cover picture for First Lord's Fury.

Seeing as how Jim hasn't yet started FLF, we have quite a ways to go. :D  Sample chapters are posted two months before the release date, and covers are posted whenever I get them.  I got the PF cover last April, but who knows when I'll get it this year?

FLF

Aw, geez. First time I really noticed the acronym. We've already got Small Favor being abbreviated as SmurF (gee, thanks, neuro), so now we're gonna have to hear FLuFf. DAMMIT.

I have a feeling the book is going to have a distinct lack of fluff. :D  I can't wait to see Jim tear out all the stops!
