Who and What gets statted up in the book?
« on: March 06, 2009, 06:11:17 PM »
When it comes to people, creatures and items which ones will get love and be included in the book?

As a fan, what are you hoping for?

I'll kick it off with a few:

Mouse - give me stats for a 200lb dog!
Michael and his sword - my favorite "minor" character
Father Forthill - hey, why not?
chlorofiends - nasty ents are a dream come true as a GM
Mr. Hendricks - I want to make him wrestle a troll... which reminds me...
Troll - see above
Shroud of Turin - could it have healed her?
Sue - zombie T-Rex, yes please!

What are yours?

As a companion thread to "What playable stuff are you hoping for?" I approve.

I would like to see stats for Ferro(vax)  the dragon from Grave Peril
the senior council

and everything Tush Hog said.

Some of the stuff you're asking for is "unstattable" -- as it tends to function on the level of a plot device rather than a, uh, "game object", so to speak.  But the vast majority of what I'm seeing so far will indeed be in the book.

Excellent! How are you handling statting characters that have changed over the course of ten books? Is there a set time frame or will the differences just be alluded to?

We're working that out. A handful will get an "over time" treatment.

Some generic "foot soldier" or "mook" stats would be good. Basic gremlins for fae, simple zombies, ghouls, vanilla mortals like cops or soldiers.

Thanks!

A smattering of yes-ish answers to these.  "Ish", because some of these characters don't have a lot of data available about them, or because they function more as plot devices than take-into-action characters.  We'll be doing up "close enough for government work" sheets for all of them almost certainly, but how much will be handwaving and guesswork, I can't say.

Will there be different "Power Levels" of statted monsters?

Obviously as Harry's adventures goes on, his obstacles get more difficult. He starts with just a rogue Sorcerer and Hexenwulfen, but moves up to Denarians and next month he apparently fights a

in Turn Coat.

Will these Who's Who entries be arranged by magnitude or will we be able to fight a big nasty Outsider using default stats?

I'm not really familiar with SOTC's mechanics but I do understand that FATE is more of a storytelling system so there is more "Describe what you are doing" and less, "Once per day, when you die..." .

Things are more sort of a continuum rather than using discrete power classes. You'll be able to see the creature's peak skills (one indicator), their total refresh cost in stunts (another, bigger indicator), that sort of thing.
