DF Spoilers / Re: The Halloween Conjunction -- how secret, *really*?

It is one of those things that's if not obvious in hindsight makes sense when you hear it.

Like I wouldn't be surprised if there's some sort of ritual involving rhe artefacts from the vault having a ceremony on Easter. Or that where court are vulnerable on valentines day. Forest people might be more attuned on thanks giving. You can apply holidays various importance and effects on the Supernatural. Doesn't mean everyone would know of all of the above as common knowledge.

I think The Denarians attempt of an apocalypse by releasing the Black Plague was a method of stopping the advancement of humanity is science, culture, standard of living etc

The theory that the Black Plague/ Dark Ages set humanity back centuries isn't anything new.

We know the Denarians had a hand in that and that the OG Merlin did his best to preserve humanity- saving the Library of Alexandria, setting up the Catholic Church as a repository of knowledge, helping set up the Fae Courts.

It makes sense he had Supernatural enemies fighting against him on those fronts Denarians being one of the front runners, probably Drakul, as well and atleast one or two dragons depending on the Arthurian myth.

The interesting pivot for me about Supernatural influence on humanities advancement is

1. The Venatores. Who have arguably done countless damage to various supernatural beings over the millenia.

2. Kemmler: WW1 was a melting pot of advanced technologies of the time used in war. Do you think Kemmler could have pulled off such a monumental war without those advancements. i.e. the rest of the twentieth century that followed.

3. White Council Wizards themselves probably didn't anticipate how advanced computer systems would be developed and that they'd be at a severe disadvantage in the modern world because of it. WC was a victim of their own success of the advancement of humanity.

Greek gods before the Fae, it would have been Janus.

The Einenjharen are for the final battle when Odin dies which means it’s going to be on Harry’s birthday.

Was it Greek gods or was it Pantheons in general?

Some good points.

Would like to add my own Headcannon WAGS:

Odin is the former Gatekeeper- One eyed, Soulfire and everything.

Einherjaars original purpose was to Guard the Outer Gates. The Cream of Dead Warriors gets you a steady supply of Millions over the Millenia.

I have a head cannon Odin was the former Gatekeeper before The White Council maybe even Rashid himself took up the mantle.

My WAG is that the Outer Gates were the Einherjars original purpose as well. A steady supply of half of every dead warriors in battle gives you a steady supply of Millions over the Millenia.

Anyone who went? or filmed it? Any new WOJs?

Reddit update had this:
"I don't know if it's new, but while talking about the Fae, he did tell us that there were 2 remaining Titans. One was Ethniu, the other was Hecate, who split herself or her powers into parts which became the Mantles of the Faerie Courts(Queens and Knights) Also, Jim was stumped when asked what would happen if Harry brought a Denarian coin to Demonreach and asked him to imprison it. Said he'd have to give it serious thought and maybe we'd find out when the Denarians came around again(Book 20) Also, no further details, but direct quote "Karrin Murphy's story isn't over yet."

Zoo day also drops Mouse calling his brother my shadow, not a shadow. But his specifically. Another thread for the light and the shadow theory. One issue with doing a mouse short is he knows too much. This is him casually mentioning important information.

🤔 I'm thinking someone mentioned the Stormy Knights connect, though I don't recall who.

Which speaking of Ash/Shadow. EVeryone seems to recognise Temple Foo Dogs as Devine so therefoe trustworthy. Even Ancient Mai confirms that Mouse can be trusted at the Trial in Turn Coat, and the Svartalves are reluctant to harm Mouse because of who he is right after an assassination attempt.

I wonder if Ash could exploit that people automatically trust him despite working for the other team.

@Conspiracy Theorist. I'd have to read Even Hand again with a comb to scan what you're talking about. Which I might do sometime this week.

It's possible even plausible could be Jim setting things up. Could be that Marcone has lawyers is referenced everytime Harry's thoughts reintroduce Marcone on the scene in every book he's in.

This suggests he had the coin during the hiring of Nameless and the events of Even Hand, suggesting Nameless doesn’t know and that despite everything in Even Hand Marcone wouldn’t reveal Namshiel. He will only put out for a Titan.

There is a nameless reference to Nameless in Even Hand, Marcone refers to the letters his lawyer sends him and it is on the subject of the Accords, so not a normal lawyer. This is the only reference to Nameless prior to The Law. I would point out that Even Hand was published in Dark and Stormy Knights (indicating Marcone was a knight of the Blackened Denarius, there are no other Knights in the story at this point so sneaky of Jim, it only fits the anthology after Battle Ground more than a decade later, why didn’t any of us pick it up?) the publication date was 20 June 2010. Turn Coat was published 7 April 2009 the year before, so Jim had decided almost immediately after writing Turn Coat that Marcone had picked up the coin in writing Even Hand for the anthology.

I don't remember the Nameless nameless reference in Even Hand, but even people who see the WOJ argue that it was just Namshiels Shadow like Lash was up until Even Hand and he only accepted him after the events of it.

But the other thing I take away from it is that the Denarians succeeded in one of their goals of Small Favor. They recruited Marcone. Took a couple of years to realise the goal but they're used to playing the long game and it may as well be a couple of months investment for them.
