Very true indeed. Though I wonder, what would the complexity be to build/create a lightsaber if one were to use tehcnomancy and parts that are less likely to be hexed. Like ww2 parts or materials or something? I am curious.

To be honest I am not a fan of playing wizards or spellcasters of any nature. Unless I am forced to do so, which thankfully I am not. Not to mention I always wanted to play a kotc once I understood the system a bit better. Though due to the crappy faith powers they get in the book, it made them a bit less appealing to me.
Though the sword was the main selling point. If my dm is not close minded then I'd run some of the faith powers for him to see if I can use them or not.

Also wanted to know, in the book grave peril. When Kelly, one of the vampire twins touched Michael and her arm bust into flames. What is that considered? A conviction attack? A compel?

Is there a chance you will be doing Goodman Grey and Ascher(not sure if I spelt the name properly); the lady who killed her rapist with fire magic? If so I look forward to the new updates whenever you get the chance to do so. Happy holidays to you and everyone that is on and off the boards at present.

DFRPG / Building a jedi knight of the faith

So after 3 years my character in my dm's game has finally kicked the bucket. An I am now tasked with making a new characted. 19 refresh and 46 skill points. I am interested in building a modern day jedi knight of the cross whose faith is in the living force.

I would like some sound advice/opinions in this venture and a few examples of how faith abilities like the potent prayer in righteousness work exactly. An I want to know what would entail in being a wielder of the sword of faith?

Much thanks in advance!

Oberyn martell from a game of thrones. He is a dornish prince who favors the spear and specializes in poisons. Which he puts on said spear. I would really love to see you bring him to life.

DFRPG / Stunt question
« on: October 26, 2018, 01:48:56 AM »
This website and the core book both have stunts that have drawn my interest but for the life of me I am not sure how I can actually benefit from them heavily. The martial artist and know thy blade stunt for weapons respectively. Can someone point to me or show me what all can I do with these two particular stunts to make things interesting or put things in my favor somehow? I am asking because I have a swordsman in one of my friend's game and I was deeply considering this stunt; but due to lack of experience with stunts like this was on the fence with how it can be used. But have been drawing blanks.

Thank you in advance!

This is very well done, could not have done it better myself. This is a huge help!

Well what do you expect for a game that has been running for 5 years... sounds like they have reached the peak of what their characters can do.  Our gm has been doing his game for 3 years and our total refresh is finally now 19, 44 skill points, still capped at superb.

Not really because at the end of the day she is giving up something to control all of that power and its free by any means, again, a wizards gas is her mental stress track. Not factoring if she took mental toughness and focus items to help reduce the strain of controlling some much power. Not to mention she has to waste 3 skill slots (conviction, discipline and lore) in order to be useful. If the player is built towards this route then it means that they did their due diligence; as they are supposed. Against a horde of mooks or constant battle after battles; they will run out of gas eventually; forcing them to find a different route to be useful. I hate seeing new players decide to play the wizard template and proceeds to fail at it in spectacular fashion, its irritating to deal with and a huge consumption of time that I would personally like to avoid. But then again wizards are one of the strongest things to be in the book; so yea.

She has to take one mental stress for summoning up the power then additional stress for going over her effective conviction score. Marking her 4th mental. Factoring focus items and whatnot. Now she has to control the power. Which she did correctly by taking a 2 stress hit to her body, as her mental is her gas for her powers.  She did her math correctly.

An you don't do it all in one go because that's how the system has it planned out to streamline spellcasting. Because the chance of failure is always there and messing up any of the steps or not being able to control the power leads to the following. Backlash to the body or your mind is there as a means to drain said caster of their resource so they have to be selective of when they bring the power of the universe to bear. Its like dealing with a man with a gun, he is scary if you get hit. But not so much to people who can avoid being in the way.  An if the backlash to the body or mental fails, then there is fallout... people try to avoid this best as they can.

Thank you so much for your efforts; it is very much appreciated as I've been meaning to look for stunts to make my swordsman better. Any recommendations?

Well when your free with the other character; I would like to see a Spider-man build that one can take into a dresden files game. I came across a few across the boards but they seem so...meh. I know you would be able to get it done because when your building a character; you get the details and abilities right the first time and you are very accurate. Hope you are doing well sir and can't wait to see what you have cooked up.

I tried my hand at building spider-man but it just wasn't good enough. Definitely he would not be a character for a low refresh game since most of his goodies are a tad expensive and I don't know what stunts to give him.

I would definitely like to see the character Asta from the manga Black Clover is fleshed out in the dresden file system.

Thank you for sharing this information; I was worried that all of that hard work was going to disappear forever. But I am glad that people with a heart managed to save it; can't wait to see what it looks like once its finally done.

How would you go about building a modern day Kirito; inspired from the anime sword art online.
