DF Spoilers / Re: How big was the Boarding House?
« on: July 25, 2018, 12:27:13 PM »
That would make sense.  In other towns where Ive seen them carve up old buildings for boarding houses, they do make use of any hole or closet and call it square-footage.

Also a lot of the medieval castles were downright tiny by the more mythological standards we (or rather I) have been exposed to, via Disney mostly.  This one was four stories tall which wouldnt have to be that sprawling.

Looking back at the initial description, I want to know the details of the Gargoyles on the place.  We all know Marcone would not bother with Just Stone.

DF Spoilers / Re: Is it possible to kill a WC Hunger Demon?
« on: July 24, 2018, 03:57:05 PM »
To the OP: We know that they can be killed by the host experiencing True Love (or the equivalent dietary Bane), but only prior to the first feeding and it was implied that the hunger became too strong after that.  We also know per WOJ that the Hunger of a fetus is perfectly capable of feeding off the mother to survive.   Those two things make me think that a mature Hunger would simply take the Host down with it, exerting more animalistic control (as we saw with Thomas in TC) until both starved to death, or rather the hunger would drain the host to death and die with it.

Items of Power can be lent at a cost of 1 FP per scene, but the Power writeup is pretty clear that it's not meant to be a regular thing. Almost never happens in play, in my experience.

Constantly handing around a healing item like that one could easily cause balance problems.
Could it be reworked such that it remains bonded to a primary wielder and instead it grants that bonded person the ability to buff allies? Physcially speaking it's the same in that they'd still have to drape it over the intended buff target and can only buff a single ally at a time, but it's not literally passing the IoP around the table, it would still be tied to the primary's refresh.

DFRPG / Re: A new power: Ranged Vampirism

Interesting. I think Id want to split it into two separate powers: one that lets you feed at line-of-sight range (rather than requiring the normal physical contact), and a separate power that lets you feed at a much longer range via an appropriate thaumaturgic connection.

And to find out if Rand still has the extended lifespan of a Channeller in his new body. Been driving me crazy.

The guardian angel closed Harry's sight, not a soul gaze. I was referring to that scene in the alley with Michael, Shiro and Sanya saving Harry in the end.
Looks like I didn't read your posts thoroughly enough, sorry.
Probably my fault, I generally consider the Sight and Soulgazes to be two effects of the same ability, since Soulgazes are referred to as Sight (by harry in BR when he saw his mother) and are similarly indelible.  But it's a connection I always make but many do not.

"An entire life, an entire personality, can be permanently altered by just one sentence." -An Accidental Villain

What's this from, Quantus?

Another good quote is from Lex Luthor on Smallville:  In life, the road to darkness is a journey, not a light switch
Agents of Shield, during their LMD story arc.

DF Spoilers / Re: Summoning Molly
« on: July 20, 2018, 12:00:49 PM »
Well... I think there are two different things going on here. Harry has an extremely powerful will (and stubbornness)... that makes him hard to change/influence. No one else in known history resisted a Fallen's coin-shadow for even a tenth of the time, much less actually changed it.

But he didn't have any useful training/skill/experience in defense against direct mental attack as of DB, so Corpsetaker could overcome him. By GS he seems to have learned a lot more though ... it's still not one of Harry's areas of talent the way it is for Molly.

OTOH, I don't think that Harry is as bad off as all that even by DB... Corpsetaker is both incredibly experienced (she was operating before the French and Indian War according to GS, so she's in the same age class as Eb and the Merlin at the youngest) and using a rare and incredibly powerful form of magic that's hard to defend against. Sure the White Council's mental training is bad by Corpsetaker's standards, but Corpsetaker might well be the best in the world in that particular area...
I'd say that mental Defense Fortitude specifically is indeed one of Harry's natural Talents in the way that Molly started out as a natural with Veils. He has none of the rest of Neuromancy that requires sensitivity and a light touch, but like Molly's veils, his natural defenses where powerful even when entirely raw, though something that a real expert can still get past (Corpstaker for Harry in DB, Murphy for Molly in WN).

She can try is very different from she can not.
Indeed, the former makes her statements incorrect, because it does not carry guarantee of success that she was claiming.  I can TRY to push over my office building all day long.  Doesnt mean I can succeed without outside intervention.  I can TRY to convince you of something, but succeeding does not mean I removed your ability to decide for yourself.

I agree, as for the part about adding something, that might be possible with careful planning and a direct link of mother to son. (I still think the part of the message from Maggie is a bit far fetched) The Fallen Angel, caught unawares with the gaze, had nothing to defend itself except shutting down the connection. I doubt it'd be able to hide anyway.
That still, I don't see what it had to worry about, probably the sight of it's true self would have left Harry a gibbering wreck (Shagnasty) and ripe for plucking.
It wasnt a Fallen Angel, it was the guardian angel in the lobby of Cpt. Jack's police station.  It would have damaged Harry, and I suspect that it would have been far more sever than Shaggy (who was still pretty damn severe).

Hat does not stop her from being right for the wrong reasons, she has a lot of experience in changing people or from Uriel’s perspective pushing people to change themselves. For Mab those things are the same and for all intense and purpose they are.

She can change Harry and reading Cold Days she nearly did.
She can TRY.  That was the whole point, she will always have the chance to Fail, despite what Harry was led to believe.  She can Push him, torture and con him, but only he can Choose to Change himself, she cant do it for him.
