DF Spoilers / Re: Who really killed ... BG spoilers!!!!

No need for you to be insulting.  >:( He even felt sorry for Ethniu as he bound her to be shipped off.  Harry uses the mantle, he has learned to control it, he is beginning to get a handle on when it is the mantle talking, and does his best to stamp it back down.  The mantle isn't in control all of the time, Harry doesn't let it be in control.  Harry, the man, has empathy, that is what I am talking about.  The Winter Mantle doesn't, but it can be very useful because it doesn't.  But the Winter Mantle isn't Harry, and Harry isn't the Mantle.  At the end of the day Harry is a wizard, a strong willed man who is a vessel for the Winter Knight's mantle, that man has empathy.

This was insulting:

Oh?  Did you not catch him standing up to the members of the Accords demanding that they help the people of Chicago who got hurt

Given I said, adding bold:

Harry generally feels empathy, but not in Winter Mantle sociopath mode.

I'm sorry, but there's a nasty habit of taking only part of what's said.

Also, @Dina, see above:

That was uncalled for

It's exactly what was done

Oh?  Did you not catch him standing up to the members of the Accords demanding that they help the people of Chicago who got hurt?  When he pinned the little bean pins on his volunteers saying if they ever needed him he'd help?  The pain he felt as his volunteers died under his banner?  That is empathy.

Mira, he wasn't embracing the mantle then.

He specifically was refusing to embrace Winter with the banner. Do you just skip sentences? Mab compliments him on it.

When Harry gives the Mantle unfettered control, he changes.

Edit: Seriously, how could you even argue he was full Winter Mantle in control in any of those scenes?

You do realize the five or so year older Murphy was, in facr, one of Harry's mentors?

It was time for a mentor to bite it.

There's definitely one about the remote reaches of the Nevernever. It was vague enough to neither confirm or deny whether the Eebs and their crew were alive.

Which is what I said- they'd have to be somewhere the curse couldn't touch them. His example was being in the remote reaches of the NeverNever.

Harry generally feels empathy, but not in Winter Mantle sociopath mode.

His analysis of Fix in Cold Days and analysis of Sanya and Butters in Battle Grounds are sharply parallel.

HIS pain, but his empathy is set to zero.

Most of them did. The youngest went back to being mortal with ripping tattoos. Depends on whether their mortal half could survive once the vampire half died. Rather sounded like aging caught up with them all at once.

They are very explicit: Embracing the mantle eliminates emotional pain. Fighting the mantle allows you to feel what you are doing.

Compare Harry about to kill Rudolph with when he unleashes the mantle fighting Maeve. His assessment of Fix shows the exact same cold rationality.

Why?  She never knew her mother, while both Harry and Kincaid were the only two people that  acknowledged that she even was a human child.  Until she met Harry at the age of seven or so she didn't have a name other than, "the Archive."  And no, it wasn't a hard shot for Kincaid, he isn't totally human lets not forget.  His fear about doing a chest shot is Harry would live long enough to throw his death curse at him.

The Archive records everything. Why would it not retain host memories?

She should know her mother precisely, and her grandmother, back to the beginning of the Archive.

Means he probably has right of requisition, then. He might be able to order Sidhe to help- if he is willing to trust their work.

It depends on what kind of reset/rebirth the conversion to full Ramp represents.

And also whether the curse moves laterally before vertically. Being a newborn Ramp may have made her sibling for a brief window to all fetal Ramps.

JB was clear that the Reds, unless somewhere the curse couldn't touch them, were gone, and the half-ramps were de-halved, with those who would still be alive as mortals surviving. Instead of arguing that the author is wrong given an interpretation, maybe look for the interpretation that matches the author's statement on the matter.

Harry is exhausted, in extreme emotional distress, and hurting badly.

His free will is compromised by the Winter Mantle at that point.

His actions and thought processes are the exact "embrace Winter" that Mab discusses.

The angel intervened just the right amount to allow Harry to make a choice about what he did to Rudolph in spite of supernatural pressure to go full-on vengeance mode.

That cold calculation is Winter.

So what to look for?
Signs of someone being involved in Murphs death
More signs of Harry to become immortal
Justine and outsiders
Someone pushing Rudolf

What else?

Pay close attention to what the Wardens- Ebenezer, Martha Liberty, and Ramirez- learn/see about Dresden and Winter. How does he appear?

Remember that Ramirez thinks Harry knows about Molly

Think about who now knows Harry has a super powerful athame/Spear of Destiny/Eye of Balor

This one also bugged me quite a bit over the course of the two books.  Didn't understand it at all.

Why? Harry and Kincaid are existential threats to the Archive.

That's my point, it isn't anywhere as far as I know.. Suddenly well, there is more than one star born, and oh maybe eight wizards were gifted soul fire..  So that makes Harry not so special after all for starters... Then saying when they mix soul fire with necromancy it has bad results?  What I am saying why would an archangel give it to someone who'd do that in the first place?

Eight wizards in 52000 years of himanity, assuming wizardry started with people. I mean, Gilgamesh having had it would change nothing.

We always knew that Elaine was also probably starborn. Listens isn't a Harry level talent.

Also, I posted before: I think it is the White Court, and an attempt by the soulfire wielder at true ressurection using necromancy. Not evil, that.
