And ack! I realized my statement "works with Knight Rider timeline" is no longer accurate. I made note of that in the timeline before Ghost Story was written, and in Ghost Story Harry states that he was 13 when the show was on.  I didn't notice when I was betaing that in order for that detail to fit, Harry would've had to have been born between 1968 and 1973, which directly contradict the David Copperfield stage name timeline.

An easy retcon/explanation could be that Harry was watching Knight Rider reruns, but I'm not sure if the show did reruns on Fridays in 1987-1988.

I can't find proof, but I am fairly certain that Knight Rider did rerun after it ended. Reminds me of how I remember being a big fan of the original Star Trek, even though I was only about 4 or 5 when it ended. I used to watch it on reruns in the early 70's.

Always one step ahead of me, and everyone else.  :)

It certainly gives us a tidy age range! While we don't yet know exactly how old she was when her mother died, that WoJ makes me believe she was no older than her early teens, so she was likely born sometime between 1797 and 1810.  What most interests me is that this means she and Luccio are close to the same age. :D

Source?

Might be worth adding to the timeline, along with the Luccio Entry, "Circa 1800" a mention of Margaret's Birth.

So Chandler is a cross between Steed and Dr. Who!?

Which gives us an age for Margaret, since she'd then have probably been born around 1800 (give or take 2 years).

I know there have been very good stories that are, at their heart, parables about things like protecting the environment and so on. But, maybe it's just that they are done lightly, instead of heavy-handedly.  I don't know many readers that enjoy reading books that seem to be preaching or sermonizing on a social topic.

You can not please all readers all the time. You can only write to please yourself and hope that what you write resonates with many if not most of your readers. A well written story with an interesting plot and interesting characters is the most important thing to focus on. Trying to be PC to everyone is impossible and not worth the effort to worry about it.

From a backend standpoint, would it be possible (and easy to implement) to have a thread that automatically restricted each member to a single post, in the same way it can restrict each member to a single vote in a poll? That would significantly reduce the maintenance required, as well as auto-enforce the whole "Do Not Debate Here" mandate.

Best bet is to do it as an Honor System, which has worked for me in the past on other forums but only with small groups. The biggest problem comes when you have someone who has a Ton Load of WAGs, so they don't all fit on one post. Then, you have Members needing multiple pages at odd times.....ultimately ending up no different than a normal thread.

My real suggestion, create a Thread in Spoilers, then have someone curate and consolidate the end results...which, actually,  is kinda what we have already.

Michael and Charity both have shown an affinity to "Magic". Michael woudl deny it, saying it's all "Faith", but let's face it, I doubt Sanya or Shiro could do what Michael could do.

If there is Fae genetics in Molly's family, it could have come from either her mother or her father.

Was thinking it might be interesting to give the roles of harry and Thomas to real-life sibling actors, if the right ones were found. This image is from an article on the Efron Brothers, as examples.

Not sure I saw them on the timeline, so in case they are not, I believe that Yuki Yosomori is about the same age as Carlos and Wild Bill Meyers is about a year younger.

Victor Sell's children, are they listed on the timeline? Not sure how old they were in Storm Front.

AndiSue,

The only thing wrong with the shirt in that link (and some others that I have seen) is that only current fans of The Dresden Files would have any idea what it represents. To me, it looks like some low-resolution video game.

Everyone,

If fans want to make merchandise based on Jims' intellectual property, it would be much better to get Jim's permission beforehand. As a very minimum they should put something on the design to give Jim credit and advertise his books. Text does not cost that much, and many vendors provide it free with their products. The donations that Priscellie and I mentioned would also help.

For the most part, the book covers are Chris McGrath's work. Why there are not more of these in the Café Press Dresden shop is a mystery to me. The Café Press Jim Butcher.Com Store could use some new material, too.

8) :) 8)

So, everything at Cafe Press/Jim Butcher Store is legit merchandise made with Jim's approval?
