DF Spoilers / Re: McCoy and Bob
« on: July 11, 2020, 06:12:07 PM »
Do we have a definitive date of when Kemmler first appears on the scene? I know we have references, but was he someone else prior to Kemmler? Body switch? Was he a WC player before he was the bad guy?

If we follow the "Harry is betrayed by McCoy" line of thinking, maybe Eb's been in league with the Black Council for centuries and the reason Bob knows the work of McCoy is a lot more insidious. We know McCoy knows about Bob. Maybe he KNOWS about Bob in the sense that he possessed him prior to Kemmler.

I don't know. Ugh.

Dresden Spoilers, thy name is rabbit hole.

DF Spoilers / Re: Power Creep
« on: June 26, 2020, 08:05:03 PM »
I like shields as an example of HOW Harry gains power. Once he see how someone else does something, he's able to adapt it to his own power or modify it. I heard Mozart described as a Refiner of music, notso much an innovator. He wasn't doing anything new, just doing what had been done better than it had been done before. Example with shield bracelet and power rings--->His shield didn't take into account fire until he nearly lost his hand. With the rings...he had one, then he had triplets. It's sorta like technology and how it's not necessarily better now than last year, but it's more efficient at doing the same things. (Processing power--8 cores better than 6----Or twin turbo V6 vs naturally aspirated V8).

The one spell that seems to be on the increase the most is Shield spell
1. Physical objects.
2. To being able to defend against fire.
3. Uses it effectively in the Raith Deeps duel in white night.
4. Uses it against the Denarians, noticebly goes up against Thorned Namshiels 6 or 7 'wave lengths attack.'
5. Naagloshi uses a similar 'wave length attack'only Harry defends against all of the different attacks.
6. Duel with Arianna, and the Battle of Chitzchen Itza.
7. Mab trains him so he doesn't even need the Shield Bracelet. Defends against the Summer Knight.
8. Redirects Hannah Aschers Fire Spell with ease.

Thanks for my daily dose of thoughtful reflection. Cheers---Brien

DF Spoilers / Re: Chapter 4 Drop

A thought about the title...

Perhaps PEACE TALKS is not only the Fomor and Accords, but also about healing a rift between Harry and Eb. Or something like that. I'm sure someone's discussed it, but it seems to me that after this chapter (and previous ones), family is going to be one of the throughlines connecting PT with BG. I know, obvious.

DF Spoilers / Re: Dumb Thought but what if Harry is Merlin
« on: June 16, 2020, 07:09:52 PM »
Not a dumb thought...Here's one for ya: Harry is the kwisatz haderach.

Margaret figured out how to create a starborn with Malcolm. Or maybe, Elaine and Harry will combine their DNA and create the kwisatz haderach. The Bene Gesserit were all about blood lines and manipulating them.

I know...utter silliness. With all the new stuff and cool guesses floating around, my brain just sorta sparked this thought.

Harry just fits the bill as the ONE. Maybe we should be asking this question: Why isn't he Merlin?

To tell you the truth, with the world being what it is, I find reading the Paranet relaxing. Thanks for all the thinking you put into this forum.

Hope all of you are well and healthy--Brien

Murphy is being set up to leave this mortal plane in my opinion..

Ooooh...maybe she becomes one of the einherjar. (sp?) Personally, I love Murphy. She's a favorite. Maybe she levels up.

Cheers----Be safe.

Re: Dresden becomes new Blackstaff

Was it mentioned somewhere that the Blackstaff is a mantle? If so, and Eb dies, then Harry's the closest and best-prepared vessel for the mantle. So, maybe the WCouncil doesn't have a say in who gets it the staff...? Or, knowing he's going to die, Eb bestows it on Harry knowing that Harry will use it responsibly.

DF Spoilers / Storm Front question
« on: October 19, 2019, 02:58:06 PM »
Near the end of the story, Dresden is considering the power of black magic and his use of it. A woman's hand brings him back to reality. Guess I'd forgotten about this in both reading and listening to it Is there a definitive answer as to whose hand this is? I guess it could be his mother's, but also Leah's (or even Mab's) given the relationship between Harry's mother and Leah. I don't know that it matters at this point, but thought I'd put it out there.

DF Books / Re: new tv series in development
« on: August 01, 2019, 02:58:32 AM »
I'd love to see a mini series format a la Battle Star Galactica or American Gods or Good Omens or GoT. Give it a real budget and star power. Pipe Dreams, I know, but wouldn't that be best? Better yet: Go with the BBC Sherlock Holmes format of a few episodes per season, but 1.5-2 hours each with an overarching storyline based on the novels. (He is a detective after all)

Cheers and Hooray for Peace Talks!

DF Books / A thought...possible spoiler, but I don't think so.
« on: October 04, 2017, 03:49:08 AM »
So...Odin is Odin except when he's Kringle while in Winter.

What about this: Maybe he's also the Gatekeeper. There's the eye. He also possesses a great deal of information. He's tall. (Seems like Odin is sometimes described as tall and rangy)

I know...I'm grasping at straws here, but it struck me on the ride home as a possibility given that people in the Dresdenverse seem to wear more than their fair share of masks.

Another Phoenician here.  Very excited about the Con.  Went last year, but missed out on many things.  Bought the 4 day pass this year.  Gonna be good!
